It's a server that allows you to talk to other people while playing a game. It's mostly used during multiplayer games to improve cooperation between players (reduces the need for ingame chat).

You have to download the TeamSpeak client before you can use it. After you've installed it, you can create a new server profile, connect to it, and then join a room/channel. You can bind a key for 'push-to-talk', or set up your microphone to a certain treshold for it to start recording. What you say is sent to all members in the room. You can run the TeamSpeak client before starting the game, and then you're all set for good multiplayer fun.

I can't help but feel that somebody posted a message, by accident, on the wrong forum. Anyway, i dont normally poke around in here, just saw the post on the main forum page.

As it affects Modders and players of SH3?
I see no problem with the post.
Got nothing better to do today?

No, i just recall GWX's teamspeak info being a big hush hush. I thought *maybe* it was an honest boo boo and he meant to post that in the hidden gw forum. So i thought maybe id give a gentle elbow in the ribs so to speak so a ton of breaks didnt land on his head.

Of course the alternative is you guys either went public with teamspeak or made a seperate public server. Regardless of my non hostile intentions, i can see through the lines of your post that the propaganda machine has been in full swing. I guess with the absence of an arch nemises like DTB; KL needed a new villain, a new "common enemy" , a boogie man that was out to get you.

edit: Im not going to post on this thread any further. I can see doing so was not a very good idea.

Actually,
I'd hope you would ingage in some talk.
I know that you and I had some exchanges in the past.
I'm hopeing we can leave that behind and move forwards.
To many sad things have happened lately.
Please accept my apologizes for being glib.
I just did not see your post for what you intended.
Again, I'm sorry!

Well, according to Ducimus, I also like to eat small children while assimilating civilizations on surrounding planets.:o :rotfl:

Nice... very indeed...

It would be great if we could speak to eachother while playing in campaign, same year...

But we all know that is faaaaaaar from being possible...

What happens if we create a mission using all the layers from the campaign and try to play it multiplayer?

Some very bad ctd i bet... lol

Not as long as users are employing the exact same files. SH3 multiplayer is quite merciless that way.

If the user has different files, or mod selections than his mate does... even the smallest discreppancy will cause a CTD in multiplayer.;)

Yeah, i figured that would be possible...

So i install the game, patch, mod all over the place, create the single mission using the campaign layers, make it all done and ready for launch, then compress the game folder, burn into a dvd, send for everybody in the forum, they copy the content to the hard drive and we play using TeamSpeak...

It would be a realtime multiplayer carrer from 1939 to 1945, those ones that get the death screen are out of the game, its a last man standing... the last man standing wins! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Shame we would have to wait years to see who would win... :rotfl:

I must say... that sounds very very tempting.. :|\\

Well, if it was that simple it would be great. However, things reach much deeper than just having the same campaign files when it comes to MP play in SH3.;)

Yeah, I know...

But its exciting to imagine how would it be... :D

You missed the part about the last man standing I wrote... lol

Kpt. Lehmann

Well, I would say this about that...

Six year long patrols aren't very realistic...

but since this thread was supposed to be about teamspeak...

Its dinner time anyway.

Philipp_Thomsen

And you know that If you get wasted in the first patrol you would have to wait 6 years to be joining the match again...

Heck, in 6 years this game will probably not being played anymore... thats sad just to imagine...

Hopefully we'll have Silent Hunter 6, again in the atlantic, with photo-realistic graphics to play in our pentium Z8800 octa-core, 16gb ram and GeForce 16600 ultra gpu... :rotfl:

gonna crash, goodnight!

No 'boo boo' and my head is quite safe from falling bricks.

The GWX TS server has been open to EVERYONE for more than 6 months.

On checking the server log I see 43 members of this SS forum registered (who are totally unconnected to the GWX Team) on the server. In fact I am pleased to announce that Neal is in fact one of those who occasionally pays us a visit and engages in a friendly chat from time to time.

There are 8 channels plus one sub channel. A few of them are password protected and used solely for GWX development business. Three channels covering chat, MP and Flight are available/open to non GWX Team users as well as one where individuals can be 'away' for short periods of time, and even a private channel I set up especially for Melnibonian called 'LOUKETO' where he is able to communicate with his countrymen with regard to some RPG game.

Obviously RL does not permit me to be at my home based server all day, and someone with Server Admin rights needs to be around to grant you registration, therefore changing your status to one which allows you much more freedom around the site. To this end we have Kpt.Lehmann, Danlisa and Penelope_Grey with such authority to assist any new visitors.

Permit me to follow in Privateers steps and afford you a cordial invite to our TS server.

Our rules are few and quite simple. All we ask in the main is that a) you have a working mic and b) you do not sit around and lurk without making any attempt at communicating.

I'm confident you will be greeted and treated with courtesy and respect. :yep:

May I also publicly thank our little Finnish Furry Friend.....Dowly, for stepping into the breach with a temporary server whilst mine was down.

Nice One mate
