"That sounds like a circus act," I answer.
"Our U-Boot is a circus. We have a bunch of clowns for a crew. And my Bernard taming act is worth three stars."
Balz waves his arms. "Einz, zwei..."
"Hoochie woochie," the crew answers in unison.
The singing ends any attempt at conversation. I have a new German Cross. Maybe I'll go and parade with Balz at the Wilhelmshaven railway station when we get back to Germany.
