LSHIII Interview englisch
LSHIII-Interview englisch
1. Will LSH3 be compatible to other mods (e.g. GWX)?
The great so-called "supermods" like GWX, WAC or LSH3 should principally not be combined as every mod changes something at certain system files which is not compatible to changes of other supermods. You can implement single-mods based on standard SH3, though. In general mods which were or are made for GWX are not compatible to LSH3.
2. Can you tell us a precise release date?
We plan to release it on the first week of march 2008. Currently we are in time, the mod is okay so far but there are still some finetunings and tests to do. But we will keep the schedule unless something unexpected happens.
3. Will there be extensive statistics, e.g. how many boats you lost per month respectively how much tonnage was sunk?
The radio traffic includes messages about the entire sunk tonnage. Lost submarines are simulated by a three times request for position report.
Those who use the SH3 commander will receive these statistics together with important events in the loading screen of the mission.
In reality there were no radio transmissions about own losses. The crews coming back from a mission heard about missing submarines at their flotillas.
4. Will there be a single install file (exe) or more files like GWX?
You wonīt have to use an installer for installing. The accustomed and reliable functionality of the "JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME)" will be sufficient. We think that the user should know which files he is installing and that he should be able to choose whether to install everything or just parts of LSH3.
We are still uncertain if it will be one or more files to download. Up to now LSH3 is about 700 MB (zipped - unzipped itīs more than 2 GB).
This indicates that there will be probably several files to download.
5. Will LSH3 cover the complete period (1939 - 1945) or just the part until 1943 again?
LSH3 covers the period from 1939 to 1945 in both campaign and radio traffic. The campaing lasts from August 1st, 1939 until the last berthing in a harbor - more wonīt be revealed.
6. Did you think about limiting a mission not just by fuel and torpedoes but also by food?
We thought about a lot of things and we have some ideas which we would like to implement but sometimes you come to the limit of the system/program. Food is not included as a variable parameter in SH3. Therefore it canīt be implemented. In our opinion it is not that important as the main limiting factor for a submarine was the fuel amount.
Additionally the missions in SH3/LSH3 donīt last that long that there would be a shortness of food and fresh water.
7. Will rear and torpedo compartments be visible by open hatches?
No. But as LSH3 is oriented towards standard SH3 you can install the "open hatch mod" by DivingDuck without hesitation.
8. What about the AI of the aircrafts?
Very, very differentiated. Many will curse the aircrafts as of 1943/1944. In LSH3 the hostile air forces are staggered by competence levels and aircraft types. In 1939 the 'Swordfish' and 'Avro Anso' are like sitting ducks while you wonīt be very successful against a 'Liberator' or a 'Sunderland' in 1944.
Also, the range of the hostile aircrafts increases as the war progresses and from 1943/1944 on there will be only a few places without the possibility of air raids.
For people, whose nerves are shot, we moved the 11th flotilla to Trondheim (out of the bombersī range). But we also thought about air defense of the bases: plenty of AA emplacements and AA cruisers take care of the bomber squads.
9. Will there be flags and exhaust smokes?
No, because of two reasons: First, we are not fully convinced by the solutions so far and partially they collide with adjustments we made (reflexions, fully retracted scopes, skins) and second they are not necessarily real. We think that the LI took care that his Diesel didn't smoke in order to avoid being detected by lookouts.
10. Are other mods integrated (e.g. textures, explosions etc.)?
A lot of. We integrated more than 210 mods, including 155 "extern" mods.
11. Will the reloading of extern torpedoes be impossible during storms (similar to manning the deckgun/AA guns)?
Regrettably no. It was not planned by UBI that the reloading of torpedoes is similar depending on weather conditions like manning the deck gun or AA guns. The torpedo works like any AI-controlled gun: loads and fires at any weather.
12. If possible will the word "Kaleun" be changed to "Kaleu" in the voice output?
Yes. This is a basic nuisance in SH3. Everywhere in the text we changed it to the correct word "Kaleu" (although this word doesnīt exist officially).
We hope we got all sound files containing "Kaleun" and changed them.
Thanks to alfudet and the LSH3 team for answering the questions.
