View Full Version : Different Goals (counterdetect, track/detect, photo, etc.) in mission editor

For a long while now I've been trying to create and refine a series of missions in the mission editor (first with Sub Command, then I imported them to DW when I got ahold of it).

One of the problems I've come across is that I can't seem to set goals that don't have to do with destinations, approaches, or kills. I have certain situations where I would like to do different things. For example, I would like to be able to require the controllable sub to avoid counterdetection. This is a big part of submarine warfare and is a goal in many of the stock missions, at least in Sub Command but I haven't tried all the DW missions yet. Another thing I'd like to do is to require the controllable platform to snap a photo (with the periscope or the P3C's camera turret) as is a goal in some missions. I can't figure out how to do this though. Is it possible to set those things?

There are two levels of trigger types. You've found the first, where you decide between automatic, destination, kill, etc. What you need to do next is check the box that says "enable doctrine language" and poke around with the options that opens up for you. For example, a counterdetection trigger can be based of an automatic goal type with the Detect doctrine used. Check the supplemental mission editor manual's appendix for a list of the doctrines and how they work.

Thanks. :) I'll try that out today.
