View Full Version : More problems with Liberian Liberation mission

I've played 688(i) and Sub Command before, but I just got Dangerous Waters and I was trying out the P3C Orion. There seems to be some really really serious problems with this mission though. I found a thread about this before but it only addressed the SLAMs not hitting their targets.

According to the tasking you're supposed to destroy the buildings away from the helopad. I do this but still get a "mission cannot be completed message" in addition to a "goal complete" message for killing them. This is a bit hard to make sense of. Other times, the SLAMs will look like they hit the target but not destroy them. Anyone have any clues?

One time I actually did manage to destroy those buildings without getting the "mission cannot be completed" message, but the SEAL craft just disappeared when it reached its destination and never respawned to leave.

I agree that this mission is incredibly confusing for being two stars. You're supposed to destroy 2 buildings away from the hostages, yet the group of buildings furthest from the helipad actually contains four buildings. If you destroy the two furthest from the helipad you get a message when the team arrives saying they were captured. if you destroy the other two or all four you get a message saying the mission cannot be completed. Regardless I'm not coming even close to damaging the two buildings where the hostages are being held near the helipad! If I continue anyway, I take out the patrol boat... the team arrives and gets the hostages... the team egresses at which point I take out the two gun boats only to have the team turn around and go back toward land at which point the raft vanishes. Oftentimes I get a message from them saying 2 gunboats are closing fast AFTER I've already destroyed them. Can anybody who has completed this mission successfully briefly describe how it's done?

That´s the most frustrating mission on DW. I managed to finish it successfully years ago (before Lwami and some patches), but was unable to repeat that feat.
I tried tinkering with the editor. As far as I can tell, the "mission cannot be completed" message played after destroying the huts is just misplaced so you could ignore it. Other messages, like the ones about incoming hostile crafts are time based so, if you are quick enough, you´ll destroy the crafts and shortly after the messages will appear.
But the thing is, the raft always turns back in land after respawn. I tried lot of things, like change respawn location, even putting them 500 yards from their goal the raft still races to the coast. So I can only assume there is a bug. Pity though, it should be an easy fun mission.

Its been a while since I completed this mission. I'd suggest tinkering with your loadout. It is doable however, but you have to be on top of everything constantly.

I must have tried this stupid mission hundreds of time by now... Knowing exactly where those two gunboats will appear by now allows me to get into a better position to fire my weapons. I destroy the boats less than 25 seconds after they first appear, but the special forces raft inevitably turns right around and lands on the coast again. Can't figure how I can do much better than that. I even destroy the gunboats before they are able to do much if any damage to the special forces raft so it continues to be a mystery in my mind. Any additional tips from someone who has completed the mission successfully would be very welcome.
