Yes there is tell your crew to loose 15 kilos and cut down on beer and extra fatty meat, and your bost should travel a lot quicker.

Well, if you ask Pen, she'll tell you that all MEN are slow.
So maybe thats the problem?

And here I thought being slow was a good thing? :smug:

:rotfl: Not all men Privateer.
Though in seriousness, the man engine provides a speedboost to a player sub of a whole 0.5% not a great deal really.
If you provided more info we could better help you Wilhelm. What boat are you in command of for starters that would help.

Well while dooing flank speed I was only able to reach 15-16 kts. And this was in fair seas(about 7 mps).

I took the liberty of playing with a few tweak files using SH3 mini tweaker and can get my IX up to around 23knots in calm seas...infact the crew sometimes can get a pyramid going skiing behind her...they do get a bit wet from the rooster tail...but their having fun and it boosts morale....

Bump.
Did you test the speeds in the same weather conditions? That makes a huge diffrance.

RTF.....MWhich and what page? Because I don't find anything specific about this in the GWX 1.03 or 2.04 and stock manuals.

a fine how do you do this is.... Well, after this post, I shall shut up, and leave your good self to your own devices.
The most obvious thing is, if you use commander and have sabotage or malfunctions checked, that could well slow you down.
As for reading the manual itself, its good advice it doesn't have all the answers but its nice to know people consult it first.

Hmm........interesting one this :hmm:
The engines in stock were/are unrealistic. Boats in stock can travel at speeds that are excessive when compared with those speeds they were able to attain in RL.
Generally speaking, U-boats were stuck with whatever engine they were fitted with at time of building.
In GWX the upgrades give a COLLECTIVE increase of 2.07% and were tested in seas of 4m/sec. Any deterioration in speed would obviously result if the sea state was higher.
Wilhelm, my friend, you above most people have interracted wuth the GWX team over on our TS channel and as such are probably as aware as most if not in fact more so with the effort we put into offering a technical support mechanism for those who use the GWX mod.
I'm a little suprised you choose to respond with what can quite easily be perceived/described as with an http://imgcash2.imageshack.us/img89/6936/asshatjp2.gif attitude when people do their level best to help.
Granted, a smiley or emoticom can be taken in a variety of ways, but take a step back and look through the responses thus far. IMO people are attempting to help you.
Telling people to "shut up" will achieve no more than a veritable silence on this and future requests for help.
Now come on young man, read the posts and let us see if we can resolve this matter.
For what it's worth.....I reckon you've either 'tinkered' with something or you've a faulty install.
Are you sure you've not added any third party kit? http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

2 things. 1) I didint mean you. 2) Trust me I do read it. I read it when Im bored. And I dont belive there is anything about the M.A.N upgrade in the manual.
I mean many times when somone has a small problem and wanting a answer they get the response of RTFM. Most times it is justified, but please dont make it the default answer.

Never has been and never will be......not for as long as I'm around anyway :nope:
If you can't see the humour in the odd post....do yersel a favour and check the thousands of responses to GWX queries where RTFM hasn't been used http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif
IIRC I think your speed also depends on your direction of travel vs the wind direction. Going with the wind will equal a higher speed vs going against the wind.

I know full well you didnt mean me Wilhelm, however turning round and telling a senior Grey Wolves member to shut up, is not cool.... especially given the problem you are having and a comnplete lack of information regarding it. you haven't even told us what U-boat type you are using!
For all we know, that could be a Type IIA you are achieving those speeds in, in which case we'd be saying, wow that is actually freaky fast.
The Chief has answered as regards to the engine issue and some other points which I would take aboard, I see the Chief as a kind of mentor to me, and he is not often misled in his postings... and its either what he said, or you're using commander and got malfunctions checked or sabotage.
Like I said the manual doesn't contain all the answers however performing a search of my own posts here, I found multiple posts where I have commented about engine performances and how the upgrade effectiveness was reduced.... getting the upgrades... either one, makes the U-boat move about as fast as they historically could go.
