No kidding....I lost half of my crew, compartments were serverly damaged, water was pouring in everywere. If there had not been a mid-air collision, I would never managed that examin.

:know:

Yeah they absolutely brutalized me  . In my mission there were quite a few mid-air collisions as well... I'm certain i would be dead if there weren't any collisions. I love that mission, big up GWX!

Just preaparing you for what lies ahead in 1943 :D

Yes, it's an authentic suicide, but I like it.

The life in a U-boot was a hell. Academy GWX is a natural selection. The best Kaleun will attack Great Britain. :D

If it happens in the Baltic sea. To cross the gulf of Biscay in 1943.... Ufffff.:o

I passed just this first - navigation examine and not started next ones.
Then i started new career and what i see? There is 1500 points of renown!:yep: I wonder if this trick can be maded in naked SHIII?:hmm:

Rose

haha naked SHIII? Yea, you get renown even in the original SHIII for completing training missions.

Yes yes but i always thinked that for 1500 extra points at start i need to
complete all 5 examines;)

After hearing people whine about that, i tried it myself:

GWX2.0 and Flak exam: Made it the first time 'round!

You gotta have a better feel for you sub!
I lost the gunner; a few wounded and had some minor damage...but i made it!:arrgh!:

PS Totally awesome aircrafts BTW!

:hmm:
Yes Mush... That is a very old Stock SH3 aircraft AI problem/weakness.

The actual AI itself is hard-coded. The bad aircraft behavior cannot be modded to completely correct it.

Aircraft will on occasion run into each other... this is especially true where there are large numbers of aircraft in one area.

Your screenshot proves it in part... as it is not from GWX 2.0.

You gotta have a better feel for you sub!

I agree with this completely. its how you fight the ship not how
you man the guns that matters in surface combat.
you have to have faith in your crew and be wise in your
orders theres a lot to do and remember its a busy experience
if your doing it right. but unless youve got a lone wounded duck
you shouldnt fight from the gundeck you should fight from the bridge.
(or damage control)

[edit] honestly this type of thread should be on the sh3 forum though
as it doesnt really address modding issues and of course by implication
the same is true for the parallel thread.

I tried it on 80% realism and managed to shoot down all the planes only to discover that i didnt select the exam option before i started the mission:cry:

Stood there for a half hour waiting for my gunner to shoot down 1 plane(he used 400 bullets and still never even hit it) then i fired 2 shots and kill the plane

I dont think the ai gunners should be that stupid but oh well.

Hehe I'm the opposite, I cant use that AA for s**t... always have to rely one my FLAK crew to shoot those mozzies down.

I passed that test the first time, lost one sailor and got some minor damage.

In the end there were 4 aircraft left... but they just circled above me refusing to attack. After manually shooting all my ammo at them without scoring a hit a ended the mission. I made a right d**k of myself infront of my crew....

Anywas the end result was the right one: "exzellent"

Yesterdays flak-training...

Survived without ammo, hull at 45%, 3 Hurricanes left, 2 of them burning like hell for hours

- training completed: average
- wondering about the 2 Hurricanes - they got the first shots at the beginning of training, trail of black smoke and heavy fire on both. They flew like they were completely new until the training ends

Yup, got absolutley shot to pieces:doh:

Managed to only shoot down 4 (yes 4) stringbags (swordfish to everyone else), before my U-boat took severe damage:

-flak gun destroyed
-65% hull intergrity
-50% crew killed.

I got a mark of average. Can anyone do any better?

Oh... i forgot my casualities

- one man wounded

FYI, You don't have to do the training missions to get the renown. You just need to adjust to numbers and make "True,+500" in each of the 5 categories in the training/tutorial folder (can't remember what it's called) in MY DOCUMENTS/SH3.

I tried it, yesterday, and lost two men, had major damage and critical flooding. I thought my boat would be sunk, but my THIRD flak gunner (the others were dead) turned out to be the best. With his help, I brought down all of the aircraft, except for one of the fighters (and that plane was trailing smoke and flame, when the Victory notice came up).

HINT: Go to flank, and make judicious use of maneuver, to throw off their aiming ...
