I love this mod but how do you do surface attacks with it?

I don't see the problem.... difference really. The scope works on the surface too.

Have you downloaded and watched the video tutorial that is available? It explains it all:yep: It is a bit long, about 45 minutes, but a wealth of info on useing the mod!;)

Here's the link to the tutorial: http://www.mayhemonstrings.com/Images/OLC_GUI_Video_Tutorial.rar

I guess what I'm asking is how come the uzo doesn't have all the fancy tools associated with it like the attack periscope does? Usually I have to dive to use all the tools. You're saying I have to use the attack periscope on the surface in order to do a surface attack? That doesn't seem realistic to me.

Well, according to OLC and Hitman the real UZO didn't have the range measuring/AOB tools that the attack scope has. The UZO could only to provide bearing info, as there was nothing more than a vertical line in the optics. Or so they say. OLC made it as historical as possible. From what I understand course and speed were determined well in advance of firing through plotting etc. Only range is an unknown at firing time. But also not very important in an across-track shot. (90 degree to target track and almost zero gyro-angle)

But there is plenty of explanations from them in the long OLC mod threads (the current and an older one). I know it's alot to search through.

The UZO did not have the tools of the attack periscope IRL. In the video, the watch officer is used to gain range and bearing to target. You could still determine speed by timeing the ship crossing the 0 degree line in the UZO, just as you would in the Attack Periscope. Don't forget about the "Attack Disc" that is included as well. This can also be used for surface attack. As I mentioned befor, the video tutorial is really a great walkthrough on how to use these tools, in various situations.
