View Full Version : GWX Minor Discrepency
Concerning the buoys... I sail over the summer and the saying "Red Right Returning" came to mind when I read in the GWX manual on page 139 that the GREEN buoys are on the right when entering a port. Was it different in Germany in the 1940s? Is there a reason for this or is this a mistake or am i reading something wrong? Don't mean to be overly picky... just something i noticed while reading through the manual. Btw, I love the fact that you guys thought to put buoys in, and I also love all the other minor details that make this game great to play day in and day out. A loud BIG UP to everyone at GWX and thanks for making SHIII replayable for the next few years (and beyond...? :D).

The U.S. uses IALA System B, where red is to starboard entering a port; almost every other country uses IALA System A, where green is to starboard entering a port. See this site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_mark), which we referenced and hotlinked on the "Buoys" page in the Manual. ;)
GWX uses IALA System A universally, as I think BBW's head would have exploded had we forced him to use different systems in different countries. :D
