John,
Great stuff here. But I'm seeing a bit of weirdness and I'm not sure iof you intended it or maybe it's just a bad install on my part? After installing your mod, some of the crewmen are wearing jeans with khaki shirts while some of the officers are wearing blue shirts with khaki pants.

No that was not an intention Would you please do me a favor first is uninstall mod Delete it and unzip again from Downloaded file, then re-install and start new campaign, and tell me how that works, oh and make sure you don't have version .5 installed. let me know what happens, oh and one other thing are you using any Low textures if you are then that is your problem.

Please tell me under what circumstances this is happening, what theatre are you in, what class of ship, and what rank of crew is it happening with. also are you using high res or low res textures? I downloaded the mod from the link and installed it and have not been able to recreate this I have tried various things so if you could send me your save game file I.E. C:\=My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames\0000000 (what ever the #)\ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc to jwhokc13@yahoo.com that will help me to isolate the problem and maybe a screen shot too and advise me of campaign type, sub type, and what patrol # you are on. Other possiblities are. as stated before, you have .5 still installed, you are running on low textures instead of high, all of these are high textures shirts, I didn't do any pants so it still takes the pants from the game files and not the mod files. let me know, I'll be up all night, and I'll start working on it as soon as you give me the info.
Sorry, I haven't been able to get back to you yet. I won't be able to send you any files until I get home from work :-?
Anyway I can answer some of your questions....
I did uninstall .5 first using JSGME.
I do not have low detail textures checked on the options menu
I'm steaming out of Pearl in a Tambor in early 42
Now I did upgrade from .5 to 1.0 while out on patrol. That may be affecting the install... I know it does with some other things that modify the UPC files. One of the things I want to do when I get a chance is start a new career with the 1.0 version of the mod already in place. I'm guessing that will fix the issue... so don't knock yourself out on this until I get a chance to confirm for you :)

IC version .5 is structured diffrent and much smaller than 1.0 thus they can't work together ( i know you uninstalled), the game will look for files that aren't there and will replace them with a best fit. I.E if you are ever missing a uniform file your crewman or officer will get a long sleeved blue shirt. You'll know its a generic shirt from the game (if you have my mod in place) because there will be no insignia on it (Every uniform shirt in my mod has at least 1 insignia on it). Also if you use it in the middle of a campaign it will again ony be able to pic up bits and pieces from some files and not all that it needs to operate properly. I did however find a string of code last night while I was trying to re-create your problem that made random generated pants, thinking this may be the problem I edited along with a couple of other things that might be the problem. So I guess what it boils down to is send the file to me and I'll check it out and but I think we have our problem solved. So place a clean 1.0 in jsgme and start a new campaign both of those are essential. If that doesn't fix it Download the fix file I placed at the top and that will certainly keep the pants from changing.
Yep, that did it. Uninstalled the mod, deleted the entire %userprofile%\documents\SH4 folder for good measure, reinstalled, started a new career, and hey! presto... everyone is wearing their own shirts.
Thanks... and great job on the mod.

When I use either your Full mod or Officers only, I do not get the Capt Cox officers hat, only the original SH4 hat. What do you think the problem is ???
(When I use Capt Cox's mod, his real officers has show up, just not in your mod)
Thanks John... great mod. Just in case I wanted to re-enable the crew promotions at sea, what would I have to do?

If you are using JSGME remove my mod first before making changes to it otherwise changes will not take effect. then go to C:\Program Files\Games\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\John Hamm's uniform Mod V1.0\Data\UPCData\UPCCrewData\ ranks file open it in a text file and look for lines that read
[Rank 1]
ID=NR3rdClass
Level=1
TreeType= USNavy
NameDisplayable=Seaman 3rd Class
Image=1
3DClothingIDLink= ClothingE1
XPRequirement= 0
LevelUp= Base this is the line you are looking for, on each of the
MaxQualifications= 1 ranks change "Base" to "Free"
MaxLocalAbilities= 1
MaxGlobalAbilities= 1
AvailableQualifications= NULL
AvailableLocalAbilities= NULL
AvailableGlobalAbilities= NULL
GetLocalAbliltityChance= 0
GetGlobalAbliltityChance= 0
EfficiencyMod= 0.7
LeadershipBonus= 0.7

The simplist fix would be to add capt cox mod and then place mine after his and that should fix your problem. I did not design my mod around his hats only around his uniform shirts (actually I should have included the hats I guess I just didn't think about it) sorry :oops:

John:
Your suggested fix worked fantasticly, thanks.:rock: :up: :rock: :up:

John, this is what prompted my question in this other thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115623&page=6) . I'll try this technique to get Cox's hats with your mod.

Also if you don't want to have alot of mod folders you could take the the cap files out of capt cox mod located at captain cox uniformmod\Data\Textures\TNormal\tex (folder) and place them into John Hamm's uniform Mod 1.0 Data\Textures\TNormal\tex(folder) , of course you would have to first uninstall both mods then reinstall just the one after you transfered the files and that would work as well, and the another plus ther would also be that it shouldn'teffect any save games. or even easier you could copy all the contents from his tex file into my mods and that would have the same effect as well. so anyone of those three ways would work.

it would be great to see this updated for 1.5,
maybe even with german ranks?
you'll have to do a search, but recently, there was a new member, that ported over captain cox's hat mod into V15

Well I was browsing the forums today for the first time in months and noticed this thread had gotten bumped, I honestly didn't even think about making a mod for the German uniforms as I have not played the new addition yet (I do have it) However after seeing this thread and noticing an intrest in a mod for the german 1.5, I'm going to go ahead and look into making a uniform rank mod in the same fashion as the american one that I did
