View Full Version : Short update
It's been a while since I had a chance to write something, the military keeps me busy.
So far I'm enjoying it, but a lot of things irritate me. As in all ex-communist armies you must know the right people to have a smooth service.
Last week for example a commission fas formed, the commission had to single out 4 candidates that will go to West Point for five years. We had to write the SAT Reasoning test, I had the highest score, so I was convinced that I would be in the lucky 4, but to my great surprise 4 people with a score under 20 % where chosen.
''The lucky 4'' will still have to go through some test that will be administered by US embassy personnel, I doubt that they will admit 4 people that barely speak English to West Point.
I had my military oath ceremony a couple of months ago. Here are some pictures from that day.

Any chance of you coming over to Britain? I know RAF Halton has strong ties with Polish pilots

If I were in charge, you definetly would be going. I'd want to send my brightest as an example of the kind of people I'd have serving in my armed forces. It shows something about your country.

Great to see you around again. Keep at it - whatever the case, I hope you get a good position there :up:

God bless you Polak ... Miss your slant on things around here.
Perhaps not coming to America and staying at West Point for five years
is a blessing in disguise.
It's a wonderful country ... many things to do here, but you would miss your family.
Hope everything works out for you ...
Do you feel like the military has been good for you?
Hi geetrue,
It's too early to say if the military was a good choice or not. Overall I am a bit disappointed. The equipment is really old and bad, my commanders are corrupted and incompetent. But that's the way it works in the Polish military, schools have almost no fundings and commanders that are too incompetent to serve in normal units are transfered to schools.
Fortunately, the reality in normal units is totally different. Normal units get all the new equipment and the commanders serving in those units have experience from international missions.
Time will tell, but I am still very angry that I did not go to West Point. :-?

Is that because of the battered equipment or the mean looking black strip across his face http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/3060/gigglebigtb9.gif

So some guys have been chewing on the commander's Polish sausage.
I know in Eastern europe this is exemplified but it happens over here too, I can think of a few examples I know.
Bummer dude, maybe they won't get in and they'll have to pick you.
@XabbaRus
I doubt that they will get in since only one of them knows english at an acceptable level.
@JSLTIGER
Still using the AK47... :p But it's being replaced by the Kbs wz. 1996 Beryl assault rifle.

Which one ? :hmm:
I don't see anyone 7' tall weighing in at 25 stone. A lot less even...when you take away the firearm :lol:

Polak is the most menacing looking. He looks bigger, even if it's an optical illusion, he's the only one with his weapon ready, and because he's in the front he appears to be the boss, which would ideally be a job occupied by the most dangerous man in the team. The other three standing back there look like the guys from Operation Flashpoint I'd take down like ducks.

I find it interesting the way you guys are wearin your berets... the guy on the back right must only be able to see outta one eye!
:lol: :lol: :lol:
@baggygreen
He's wearing his beret the "pirate way":arrgh!: , MPs usally wear their berets that way. The picture was taken in a loose atmosphere, in the begining of our service when we still where fresh recruits. :)
I will try post some new photos now during the weekend. We got back from our winter training facility 3 weeks ago.
