I am using GWX 2.0 and enabled the GWX Enhanced Damge Effects Mod that came with GWX 2.0.
I want to keep damage to enemy ships as realistic as possible. I do not want to make it easier to sink enemy ships. The GWX manual does not mention this mod.
Does enabling enhanced damage effects just make nicer graphics or does it change the damage model on enemy ships making them easier to sink?

The GWX Enhanced Dame Effects mod (or GWX FX effects mod) donīt mess in any way with the GWX damage system. Itīs absoluetly compatible and ready for GWX 2.0.:up:

That's why it is so cool too! Better special effects, that do not break the damage model itself.
The only reason that this mod is an included 'optional mod' with GWX is because it can cause FPS hits in lower-end PC's. If you have a sturdy or newer rig... try it out! Just double click the JSGME icon installed on your desktop by GWX 2.0 and there it is. Just enable it!

I love the smoke effects on the mod!!! :rock: Tho, I still would love to see a cloud of smoke gather over the burning ship like in SH2. That was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! 2x:rock:

Oh yes, remember that SH2 mod that caused the smoke to mushroom out miles above the ship. :D
I must have a go at SH2 again one day.

GWX does not change anything about the seagulls from stock SH3, Kpt. Munson.;)

Sorry all, must make my opinion on this. I don't think so. Judge for yourself! :yep: Remember though they were very cautious in their FX mod for FPS rates. There are some really cool effects though that I don't have :yep: Will work with Rubini for advice on how he did it.

There were quite a few things in SHII that I miss in SHIII. For example, in high seas if you were on the bridge, that REALLY made me seasick. Nothing like the small dizzyness I got from the GWX's physics, but I really had to go below the decks. :p
Might aswell give it a try, right about NOW! :rock:

Below some old pics about GWX 2.0 FX mod.
The smokes and even the effects arenīt so much different from the ones on GWX 1.03. What this mod really makes different are the big oil slicks and big oil trails as we can see below. Also added sound for fires externally and at hydrophone, plus corrected some old bugs on the partcles.dat since the stock Sh3.
The smoke quality and tgas are also the same from GWX 1.03. But they are now much more alive and frequent, also with big secondary explosions. In a new update for this mod we will also make the depth charges explosions a lot better.
So, this have not much to be compared with RBīs work. His mod have a lot of more goodies and spetacular effects, but , IMHO, it needs to be more compatible, because a lot of adjusts on some files from GWX arenīt yet on his files. Anyhow Iīm sure that his mod will be absolutelly and totally compatible with GWX 2.0 soon, then it will be a very good option for the players!:up:
