:D Hello,

I once heard a rumour that someone has made a mine for SHIII that could be deployed by uboat by converting the T3 into a stationary mine. Does anyone know where to download this mod. if it still exists?

As far as I know RL mines sink to the ocean bottom though so they needed to launch it near the shores. The lethal depth is about 25 to 36 meter depending on the type of mine.

They were launched from the torpedo tube and each tube carrying two or three mines at any one time for launch.

Mining was pretty intensive in the beggining of the war with England.

I'm sorry I have no idea such mod existed. Pretty cool if somebody got the link to it though:hmm:

i have to ask...

would you not have to remain within visual distance of the launching point or remain within hydrophone listening distance of the launching point to receive credit for the kill

if such a kill were to actually occur?

AFAIK, the mines in said mod are a) seen and avoided by the AI b) unexplosive.

Thanks mate :up: I downloaded it already

Dowly:

What!? you mean to tell me that they are eye candy only? Has anyone tested it? I planned to test it

Wolfehunter:

Hehe I take it that you're talking about Tomi's beautiful VIID? :up: That's actually what I wanted to try, to make a career with his VIID and then equip it with a couple of T3's and try to mine a harbour to see if it works :D If I'm not mistaking the owner of the site is CB, a modder who has aleady made a lot of great mods for both SHIII, SHII and DC

@Werewolf

The version I used at WaW few months back was just an eyecandy. I'm quite sure that's the only version there is. But realisticly speaken, it doesnt matter, as the uboat left immediatly and only sparse info could have been received of the mines' success.

@Wolfehunter:

Well, as previously mentioned I downloaded the mine mod, they look like real mines with horns and everything and come out off the tube nicely when launched, but unfortunately Dowly is right....they don't explode! :arrgh!:

I set up a scenario with a merchant coming right in my path behind me, I deployed 5 mines on a straight line and watched in external view as the merchant sailed over them, nothing happened, only the sound of metal against metal as when a dud torpedo. I tried everything, altering the torpedo from magnetic to impact, altering the values in the tweak files....nothing helped :hmm:

@Dowly

yes maybe, but when I run the risk of penetrating a harbour to lay mines then I want to be damn sure that the things will go off if something hits them otherwise I think it's a rather tame experience to try a mining mission :lol:

@xristoskaiti
Hehehe....why apology? you're right

It would have been so great to lay mines that really explode. :cry:

But with a little imagination....:hmm: They are very cool anyway.

They are very cool anyway.

Yes indeed, I do not wish to complain in any way...

Anyway, maybe it's a problem that can be solved once the right ones get on it :hmm:

Racerboy is too busy I don't want to ask him. So if anyone else would like to help Tomi and I have an idea that could get them to explode. PM me for more details. later all I'll be back later.:up:
