Using SH3 Commander. Started a new career in 1939, and am assigned to Wilhelmshaven.
1) I noticed as I was leaving port, there was a very big combat vessel, (Bismarck or Lutzow class) in the harbor. It has a couple of barrage balloons attached and floating high above (very cool btw). It's parked along side the pier that has the floating drydock at the end (also cool!). However, the BBS did NOT show up on the strategic map (F5) or the tactical map (F6). It was still there when I returned from my patrol, with the same map invisibility issue.
2) I never saved within 200km of Wilhelmshaven. I did do several saves around Ireland and Scapa Flow, and one in the North Sea just before I entered the passage south of Scapa Flow. But, when I returned at patrol end, one of the freighters in dock was half in the dock, half stuck in dryland. It was also on fire.
3) I torpedoed a British Medium Cargo Vessel in the North Sea (2 fish), and resumed my homeward bound course, expecting it to sink before I got out of sight. When I as so far away that all I could see was the smoke from the engines and the onboard fires, I decided to return and wait till it sank. That took several hours of circling around, but eventually it sank, and somebody yelled, "She's going down!". Unfortunately, it did not show up in my Captain's Log, so I didn't get credit for it. Damned naval intelligence!

1. I've started in the same place and the ship turns up on my map screen as the KM Tirpitz.
2. There are plenty of ships in harbour, but I haven't seen the problems you've mentioned.
3. Very, very unlucky. Any tonnage is good tonnage.
Maybe your install is corrupt. It might be worth re-installing from scratch and see what happens. Have you tried installing the SH3 Comd patch for GWX 2.0 (I assume you're usinjg 2.0)?
1. Never seen a problem with ships not showing up on the map that are there to be seen.:hmm:
2. This is a SHII stock bug. If you save and exit too close to ANY port which contains ships, they will lose their waypoints and there is a likelyhood that when you reload that save, they may ground themselves or otherwise behave erratically.
3. Unlucky. It may have been that you took your boat to the edge of being able to see the other ship and it may have slipped out of visual range for a short period of time in which case you may lose the ownership of the kill and therefore any renown associated with it.

@Tarjak: I'm not so sure: it sounds like the freighter he saw started in the dock and should have therefore been stationary during his patrol.
@SleazeyWombat: Do you remember which freighter (or what kind of freighter) and/or its approximate location in the harbor?
Thanks!

I started up in Wilhelmshaven in 1939, but the ship shows up on my maps. The Tirpitz is inside the red circle in the following screen capture. Try completely rolling back SH3 Commander and then see if the same thing happens.

I'll have to look at the harbor tonight as I start my next patrol, to see which ship and dock it was. I do not remember if that ship was in harbor when I left.
I do have the GWX SH3 Commander files installed, but I probably should totally reinstall Sh3 Commander. I think I just installed the GWX files atop the current files, which may not be a good thing to do.
Understand about the save bug being a stock problem.
I got a radio message from BDU reporting U45 being sunk by warships.
A few hours later I got one From U45 reportying that he had sunk 3 ships.
Ghost Sub?

I noticed this when perusing the Museum and looking at aircraft. The insignia on the wings show only one quarter of the pattern ie, the British one is one quarter of a circle etc. It may have to do with resolution setting but mine is the default setting.

Somehow you've got the wrong markings files, the original ones and not the ones in GWX 2.0, are you using sh3 commander?

You'll get that if you're using SH3 Commander's random airicraft markings mod. Once I disabled that, the markings look fine.

I suspected that, we overlooked that files, we'll have a look and release a fix for sh3 commander.

Don't worry. We will find out for you. I'm not sure on that one myself.

Hello Gentelmen
I've recently upgraded to GWX 2.0. Everything seems to run well enough, however after I leave port and travel the keil canal the game invariably crashes to a back screen as soon as I pass Cuxhaven. Though in all other regards the game runs fine. I've had no difficulty with SH3 or GWX in the past. I have reinstalled GWX 1.3 and am not having any difficulty. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thanks for your time

Hehe, not every one overlooked those files. ;) I actually created an updated pack when I created the new markings for GWX 2.0.
Out of politeness I'm just waiting for the GWX team to get back to me on a few issues before I release it for the benefit of SH3Cmdr users. :/

Hi Crooked,
I just got back from an in-game check 1939 career start there at Kiel and traced your route... Went through Kiel Canal, passed right by Cuxhaven, and on past Heligoland. No problems. I'm assuming you did it in 1939 as well? Will check 1940 after a bit of sleep... but so far, nothing unpredictable occurred.

For the moment untill JSCones decides to release his markings set do the following:
roll back sh3 commander, open the directory where sh3 commander is installed, do a search for markings, you should end up with a list of 37 directories named markings, select and delete them.

I did a complete un-install of both SH3 and SH3 Commander, deleted all the involved directories, and then did the full SH3/1.4 patch/GWX 2.0/SH3 Commander 2.7 install, along with the SH3 Commander files for GWX 2.0. Alles in Ordnung!
I started a fresh new career, with the same flotilla, and started out in Sept 1939 again from Wilhelmshaven.
The Tirpitz is visible on my maps!
I did NOT see a freighter in the dock as I left the harbor, so the stalled burning freighter I saw previously may be one that arrives while you are on patrol? Is that possible?

The gramaphone music installed with GWX 2.0 has some songs playing in 1939 that did not exist, like "Johnny Got a Zero". That was not a popular song until after Pearl Harbor, sometime in 1942.
I deleted all the GWX 2.0 and stock SH3 gramaphone files, since I use a 495Meg collection of songs I have accumulated and sorted into the proper years and months, and SH3 Commander randomly selects them for me based on the date of the patrol.
This avoids hearing songs from, say 1943, played as my patrol starts in Sept. 1939. Being a bit of a music buff, this is an important realism aspect for me.
