your not installing the mod into JSGME correctly, the most common problem is the folder may be inside another folder.
example: (BTW there is no real fishing mod)
fishing mod - the fishing mod has a folder inside it called fishing which contains a data folder inside it, and it also has a read me file.
if you just put the whole mod folder in JSGME it wont work, it only works if the folder just has a data folder inside it.
so if it looks like this - fishing/fishing/data then it wont work
if it reads fishing/data then it will work
you must read the thread with JSGME instructions which cover troubleshooting problems
If you can't get JSGME to work, doing it by hand can only end in tears.

If you can't install via JSMGE, it's doubtful that you'll be able to install ROW mods by hand...
So:
Download and install 7zip: http://www.7-zip.org/ to handle your archive files.
Download JSMGE: http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products.html
and install JSMGE to the root Silent Hunter directory.
Run JSMGE, choose Tasks, and "Generate snapshot of game files". Close JSMGE.
I suggest getting sobers ROW SuperMod. The download link is here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=126250
Use 7zip to open the SuperMod and drag the file folder onto your desktop.
Open JSMGE and use the mouse to drag the SuperMod folder from your desktop and drop it in the left JSMGE panel (available Mods)
Click on the super mod to highlight it and then the ">" to activate the mod and it will transfer to the right panel (Activated Mods)
Ta-Da! You be ready to rock...

Not advisable to mod without JSGME for many reasons, but mainly because you can mess up the game quite easily, and carrying out clean installs all the time isn't much fun:down:

Welcome to SUBSIM muppet
There is a link on my sig. for a nice Illustrated JSGME Guide.
Also with Vista you have to run JSGME a little differently, check out this link
for that :yep::http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=123848

Muppet, for the weak knee computer dude like myself, this what I did. Downloaded JSGME, unzipped and put a copy of the JSGME.EXE in my SH4 main folder I then right click in the SH4 main folder and used 'create a new folder'. Clicked on that and named the folder MODS. The new folder sits right next to my JSGME.exe. When I unzip mods I it will ask were to unzip the files to? If you are using .RAR to open compressed files a list should pop up of possible location to send these files. Go to main hard drive or local hard drive found on the list and click the + sign. The list will grow. Go to PROGRAMS and click the + sign and all your programs will appear. Scroll down until you see UBISoft. Click the + sign and SH4 file will appear. Click the + sign and the MODS folder will appear. Click that ONCE just to highlight it and then click unzip. The files will end up here. Close all of that. Go to your main SH4 in your program files and open. Click on the JSGME.exe and then you can start adding mods that you just unzipped to the MODS folder.
It took me longer to type this then actually unzipping and loading mods. Some guys put the JSGME.exe on the desktop for easy access. What I did was just create a shortcut to the entire SH4 folder and put it on my desktop. When I click that it opens the SH4 main folder and I will have access to the mod enabler and all the files contained in SH4.

The way to avoid creating a folder within a folder is to create desktop shortcuts of JSGME and its 'Mods' folder, and then download your file to your destination folder and use the 'Extract Here' option. Once the new extracted folder is created, just drag and drop it into the 'Mods' folder.
If an idiot like me can use JSGME with 100 percent success then anyone can. :D

That makes two of us. Modding for Idiots 101. Both TDK and myself will conduct the classes. :know: Please learn how to use disk clean up and defrag before you come to class:oops:
If it was not for the modders here I would still be on patch 1.1 with many CTD issues.
