So with 1.3 & ROW I had this problem, and simply dealt with it patiently while awaiting a possible fix with 1.4, but now I feel it must be addressed.
My game crashes to the desktop whenever say for instance I time compress up to midway from the mid pacific, and get really close to it while watching from the nav map, then I switch to the bridge view and crash.
Also this happens sometimes when NOT near land, but near other ships. I will have been time compressing around my patrol area for a bit, get a contact, close on it using a bit of TC, then switch to bridge view and crash to desktop before I even get to see what it was.
This wasn't happening with stock 1.4 when I installed it earlier, but the minute I re-applied ROW it started again. GOT to have that mod, it is like the fundamentals of this game graphically and without it the game is almost boring to look at !
Any ideas?

Best bet right now is play without ROW. Wait for Leo's return (doctors) and work with him via PM to find the problem. He does not have issues with working on individuals ills and getting the game to work for them. One hell of a community member there!

No doubt about that. I've already offered to throw some $$$ his way.
Probably some lame simple issue, otherwise everyone would be reporting it. In the meantime i'll save frequently and avoid the bridge view near land :D
Gotta have that water, it just looks so good. I find myself 1x'ing for hours in the middle of nowhere just to watch weather come in.

I've been having the same problem since ROW release. Leo pointed out that a workaround for the jello water was to pause the game for a sec before going to the bridge. I have noticed something very much like that with the CTD's that im having. I have found that as long as I go back to normal time before I jump to the bridge then I dont crash. I have also noticed that if you go to normal time, then go to the control room first then on the the bridge that not only is the water thingy better, but not one single crash. Thought I would pass this along in the hopes that it helps with your issue.

digitizedsoul: what's your computer specs? It could be that when you go to bridge view when there are lots of things for the game to render (land area, mulitple ships), your machine might not cope with all the changes if it's low-spec.

Beast,
Yeah I thought about that too, so I built an entirely new PC (not kidding lol) with an Athalon 64x2 5000+, 8800GTS, 2gb DDR800 etc.
Not only did my computing experience as a whole skyrocket, but so did SH4's performance. Sadly this problem remained though. I think it might be what slim said about not only going to 1x tc first, but also check out a few other compartments first before just jumping to the bridge.
Oh well like I said, its well worth the occasional hiccups to play with these killer graphics and effects.

Hm...I have a craptastic machine which barely meets the minium requirements, and I've never had a CTD when going from Nav Room to the bridge after TC. Another wild guess: do you have Vista or XP? I have XP.
