I just got SH4 working again and I started using manuel TDC. The one thing is I never get the range right. It seems that I put it right on the masts, but I check the attack map and it's never right. Sonar is not exactly the easiest to find ranges and I don't want to depend on sonar for range. How exactly do I accuratly measure range? Do I do it a little bit above or below the masts? or am I just missing the top of the masts?

I have watched the vids\tutorials as well, I go with the top of the masts. Also, not correctly identifying the contact in the rec. manual will mess things up as well as far as range. I did the latter last night, when I corrected it, the range was bang on :yep:

Thanks for the reply.

I think I might be identifying wrong most of the time. I just started Manuel TDC a couple hours ago so that's probably why.

Stick with it, it can be frustrating, but well worth it :yep::up: Any problems post back here.

Edit: Another nice guide by Hitman: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111998

Thanks for the link. I actually had this guide on my old computer, but didn't transfer it when I got my new one. I was looking for it the other day, but couldn't find it

And I'm getting better with Manuel TDC, I just need to work on AOB estimation and IDing some more.

I actually have a quick question about the guide. Would it still be of use in SH3 because I am planning to get it and haveing one guide for both would be nice.

I can't see why not as the principles are the same, you could always PM Hitman just to be sure.
