Please disable all other version of this mod before installing this mod.
Now includes new textures for 21 japanese warships and carriers!
This mod aims to visually improve the warships with new reworked textures, I made some new textures for all the guns in SH4 to match the new Yamato and all the other improved ships.
New textures: New bumpmaps, new wood textures, steel textures.
This mod can be added to your game anytime as it only modifies the textures and works with ROW,RFB,TM, RSRD.

One other thing: the doors on the Subtender still look look pitted and worn out and don't have much definition around their edges. Could you clean those up a bit?

He has an extra folder in the zip file. Cut and paste the Data folder for the mod and move it up one level.

Thanks Luke, I wont forget the carriers ;) , but as this mod is progressing I will try to update this mod regularly instead of releasing it all in one big pack. Will look at the sub-tender upto the next release.

I'll be the judge of that. What is stickied are MAJOR modifications of the game. As you can see ROW swallowed up LBO that was subsequently removed from the sticky list. Eventually, RFB will be swallowed up by RFB for ROW/RSRD. TM will continue on course for Ducimus. This texture mod will end up on the sticky of the listed modifications of the game. Eventually I'm sure this new texture pack will become part of yet another larger mod package as Kriller2 allows others to use his work for the greater good of large mod packages. (God bless him!) IMO, the sticked threads are all major modifications of the game and need to remain at the top so the creaters/users can locate them easily to post praise or problems.

For what it is worth, generally, it seems that Filefront is easier to use for downloads than rapidshare...
I downloaded and ran this with the mod enabler jg??? but not sure if im seeing a difference, the post above me a few says there is an additional folder that needs to be moved? can someone explain this a little better so i can get this to work properly, thanks.

A sub retexture, maybe? More believeable skins? Foo did a great job with high res, but still a little to "clean" for me... When the sun hits it, you can barely see any difference from the weathered and clean...

Inside the directory "Warships retextured 1.2" there is another directory called "Warships_install", you need to move the folder ""Warships_install" into your MODS directory and enable it in JSGME.

Hi Kriller,
Just wanted to ask. If you look at the conning tower of a sugar boat there is a hatch on the side, if you line up the camera you can see through the hatch to the other side.
My question concerns the limber holes in most of the subs particularly those at the very front and around the dive planes. The limber holes were designed to let water in to aid in diving, at the front of the boat where it is at its narrowest I wonder if it is possible to mod the limber holes at the very front and around the dive planes so that these like the hatches on the side of the conning tower can be seen through
Its not a big deal but possibly might look a bit more real than just a black circle trying to look like a hole.
Do you think this could be possible. I would try it my self except I dont know what program to use to view the textures in the game files

I think it's possible but I wont work with new skins for subs, because foofighter has allready done a great job on that. The reason i am working with the ships textures is because nobody else have done such a mod and the stock ships textures and bumpmaps could use a little more detail, sorry it took so long to answer this, but Crysis is taking my time at the moment :cool: that's allso the reason why the new carriers are not released yet! Will look into it SOON (tm) ;)

today I finnaly added new portholes to all the ships in the pack, so no more white rims around the portholes, allso did some texturing on the life rafs, doors and windows.

I have removed the dat-files which modified how high the caustics are reflected on a ship,so now it's only textures so it should work with both patches.

Thanks Miner, I now which part you want me to add, but I can't find the frontplate of the Yamato in the textures :damn: maybe thats the reason the devs didn't add the chrysanthemum.

Just an FYI, you ommitted the Akitsu Maru. I know, it's technically an aircraft ferry, but the game lists it as an escort carrier.

I just downloaded and installed vs 1.3 after first unloading vs. 1.2 with JSGME, then loaded for testing th single Battle off Samar. Unfortunately Yamato did not show the new reduced & replaced portholes (nor Chrysanthemum).:cry:
I'm a bit confused. Were the porthole changes withdrawn, awaiting some further fix, or could there be a conflict with the Trigger_Maru_GFX_PAK_2_2? :roll:

Did you just install the file as you DL it or did you extract the individual folders for each ship. In the earlier releases you had to do this for the files to work in JSGME. I've not unpacked the latest release yet, so I don't know if its any different.

You should see the reduced portholes,Sorry but the chrysanthemum where removed because of a bug.

Sometimes it's not how it's compressed, but how it's decompressed. If you select "extract here" you get the correct folder layout, but if you just choose "extract" and let it name the location, you end up with an additional folder layer.

It's most comfortable to just open the mod-folder in your SH4-directory and drag-&-dropp from winzip.

A couple of observations:
The Taiho should not have that much rust, as it was in service for only three months. It should also have more of an overall gray scheme (see below)
The gun tub (for the AA guns) on the sub tender still looks icky (I think it's the default texture). Would be nice to get that looking better.
The Japanese destroyers (other than the Akizukis) still have too much rust, IMO.
The Kongo is still showing too much rust around its superstructure, IMO.Color artwork of Taiho:

Yes I know thats why I have tried to add a rapidshare mirror, but I have been having some serious problems getting into this forum the last 2 days, maybe it has something to do with the release of GWX2?

Hi Luke, I can't see the picture? - but if you are right about your observations I will see what I can do to make it more realistic. It's not an dificult task to remove some rust, because i have it on a seperate layer in photoshop, just need to be 100% positive before doing it ;)

Yes, I checked that out... I still remain curious as to why there are no *.dds re-writes/over-writes announced when one enables your Warship..etc..Mod.
I guess I can stop worrying about it, as long as I definitely see the new skins... Could I possibly see a screencap of your current/latest Yamato skin compared to the stock/default Yamato? ...I'd like to confirm that I have the new texture/skin working. Thanks.
@Doolittle: The retextured Yamato looks like the picture in posting No. 57, smaller portholes higher up in the hull front section. The originals were lower down, huge & ugly.
You had obviously made the same mistake as I had done:

I have to admit that I do change the Labeling of the files in your mod to an exact match of the game files to advoid possable problem as somtimes there can be a letter case sensitive issue.
nbb_fuso in your mod vs NBB_Fuso in the game file.
Other wise I like the new texture work so far Kriller thanks for it!

Yes if you look at page #1 of this thread there are two pictures of the Yamato, stock and modded, but I had to remove the chrysanthemum due to some texture-problems.

I have downloaded my mod to see if how it looks from the first page of this thread and here is a screenshot of the directory in the "Warships retextured_install1_3\data\sea" folder after I unpacked it:

I don't know why you are getting those directories? But the important thing is that you have the "ncl_naka" and the "ncl_kuma" in the "sea/" directory.
you know what.... 10 bucks says im just retarded...
i bet because its lower case, and i was doing the work on my laptop which has a small screen and fine resolution, that NCL looked like nd becuase it was lower case. i feel like such a jackass.... :doh:
