I learned how to make icons overnight using Photoshop and I was going to make a bunch of desktop icons. Would you be interested in such a thing or should I even bother? Ok, this was suppose to be a poll, but the page didn't load so just say yes or no.

I don't know if there is any benefit to desk top icons. I just have the icon to start the game but here is a thought...how about the making some nice avatars for the members to select from? Bear in mind Neal will change the avatars if a small donation is made to Subsim.

Shameless plug:roll:

I like the default icon, or at least don't dislike it. Go for it and I'll check it out. Something tells me to trust you on this one. I didn't mind the default submarine either and look what I ended up with!

Just an observation that, in a world full of dishonesty, it's refreshing to see "a shameless plug". The "what a concept" part was from a comedian from long ago who portrayed a Russian (I believe) who emigrated to America and was surrprised by many of our "concepts".

My apologies if anyone took it as anything else.

Sorry for my absence. I'm currently working on some nice glassy Silent Hunter icons. I will also make some avatars to contribute if I knew exactly how many to make.

Honestly I myself could use a few dozen icons.
not just of subs of ship yards captains vaults.
drydocks harbours and helms and so on.
as well as marks for shIII shIV 1914SOF
Sub Command IL-2 and
Beeker and Bunsen E. Huneydew

sorry ...................
its just my set up
each game has a dashboard folder containing shortcuts
to its mod folder gamestart, data folder, mission editor, etc etc
and my master workshop file is muppet labs

I'll get about 12 done and I'll post them on my friend's FileFront account. I need about a week to do them since I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to doing them.

a dozen in a general package may find some users besides just me
thanks for the effort.

This year is going to be tough. Sitting around with nothing to do except ponder over the loss of my brother. I went ahead an made up 6 icons for Silent Hunter. They're not the greatest, but I did put reasonable effort into them. My friend uploaded them to his account for you to download. Sigh. They look best at their highest display setting under Vista though I tried to make them look good with the lower settings.

Description: Contains six 32-bit icons for Silent Hunter 4. Designed for Windows Vista and Windows XP. All icons are compatible for sizes 256x256 (Vista Only), 48x48, and 32x32.

Did you like those icons? I can make different one using different images. Normally I would make original icons using personal designes, but I'm a bit lazy in that regard.

I understand the lazy bit,
Minimalist isnt a word that was invented by one.
if so the actual word would be MM:|\\

so no worries

what I did like was different shapes.
the icons though handsome as such
are in icon sizes and naturally a little
light for resolution.

but in the case of my set up I have a
seperate dashboard folder for each of
my two shIII installs each of two SHIV
installs and My IL-2 and Sub Command
etc. in each dashboard are a set of
links usually matching in type with the
other dashboards a link to game exe
a link to the mods folder for each game
a link to the mods installer for each game
mission editor and so on.

with the different shapes ( a few more of
them that is) I can give mission editors
an Icon of a common shape and mods files
an icon of another so wether im in the
dashboard for shIII Vanilla or RFB career
shiv if I click the triangle I get the mission
editor.

to me a series of common shapes with varying
colours or pictures is the useful approach.
as for others again I couldnt say.

thanks though
MM
