Could anyone give me instructions (I have never modded SH3) how to produce the attack periscope look and feel (i.e. the TDC controls within the attack periscope without installing the full version of [REL] OLC GUI v1.1.0 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=124639) ). Cheers..

Well there is no fast way, you have to shed tons of blood sweat and tears and spent a lot of time. I fear that is the only way.

Just to get an impression: you could ask OLC how long he needed to get an idea about the tricks an twists...

Re-engneering needs a mighty heap of experiance and a good idea, a genious magic or plain luck... choose your option
:D

Nothing special, just a motivational: Steal with pride but share with delight
..... and always provide the honorable thanks....

Thanx for the advice. Rather spend the blood, sweat and tears on the game itself. Just have to say a big thanx to all the modders out there for creating some excellent mods. Have just watched OLC's video and prepared to give his mod another go. (I didn't like the objects popping up when moving the mouse around, kinda spoiled the immersion factor. I'm sure thats just me.)

Since you mention OLC's mod you must have GWX, then this one would might be an idea: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=109214&highlight=dials

This one (http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=48526) is probably what you have in mind if you don't want GWX. (actually the GWX version above is based on this one I think) However the rapidshare link is dead and I can't seem to download it from ubrsdlc.realsimulation.com either anymore (this one should be it: http://picturehost.realsimulation.com/UBRS_DLC/file.php?id=526). Looks like the whole server is jammed. Can't get anything.

Umm, actually, the mod is available for stock, too

LOL, I try to please some, and end up annoying others.

U-Cass, sorry I didn't answer your question, but it's not a quick question. You might as well ask "Can someone please tell me how to build an engine? I don't need to know how to build a whole car; just an engine will do"

Anyway, I'm glad you decided to give the mod another try. If you still don't like it, there are quite a few others around for you to try :yep:

That maybe your start to enter into the modding stuff.

Try to understand what OLC did and then make your next step in getting rid of what he made wrong in your opion.

I'm pretty sure he will give you the hints on what and how he did his work :yep:
so maybe you can provide the community with OLC_GUI_extended_(without_his_nasty_pop_up_stuff)

Just remember to get in contact with him when using his work :yep::Yep:

Totally appreciate all the work that has gone into this mod. I tend to play by using the 3d views as much as possible (using dials in 3d as well), my only gripe so far is having to switch to TDC. Usually I right click engineer click on conn, go to attack periscope (TDC controls available there) but when click on actual periscope view a right click takes me back to the engine room and not the TDC part. So even being able to right click on periscope view back to tdc controls would be heaven.

As you can see this is a totally different way of playing than your mod, so kinda of a jolt. But at the moment playing 74% realism and want to go for 100%. Going to watch the Video again and then have a test run.

I understand :D But the challenge is still there? ;) *teasing* ...and the need? *more teasing* and OLC did so many things wrong? *teasing until the world ends* and it's totally easy to do .... THISANDHAT ;)

:rotfl:
(I just had won a fight about time to spend at home at my SH3, and I can't keep my success for myself, sorry for that... :rotfl:)

I really appreciate that you find the work a challenge. Let me know when you have modded SH3 to suit my tastes :know:

Currently it is my signature plus some (a lot) modifications to the keyboard commands, some slide outs, some map stuff, ....yeah, some more... I think they are very much focused on a german former AOD captain. ..?

Yea OK, I will post them sometime after I figured out my stomachs with GWX 1.04 (which I take for granted). You'll get credit for the convincing :rotfl:
