View Full Version : Submarine file structure / parameter post?
I tried searching and couldn't find one.
Is there a post that breaks down the file structure for the submarines and lists the parameters in each file, including the sim file?
Not that I know of.
You know what, a thread where this gets written down for ships and subs would be very cool.
Take apart the dat, and annotate everything we know about it, do the same for every node etc.

Best i can do, is tell you most of whats in the sim and zon file, ive just been making the assumption this was common knowledge though, so i dont normally talk about it. What areas of it are you fuzzy on?
There is a lot of information around, but it's hard to dig up.
It would be cool to make a thread that describes as much as possible, or links to the critical threads/posts.

it probably is common knowledge among the experienced modders. Being new here and trying to learn what's where and, nore importantly, how they interact, there's much I'm still fuzzy on.:D
Just trying to shorten the learning curve and was hoping to not pester busy people like you and Leo if possible. The thing is, the way I learn the best is to get the overall picture and then dig into the pieces. Was hopng someone had already put the puzzle together.
Seeing lots of individual topics with questions on one aspect (graphics, performance, damage, etc) or even one parameter , but nothing piecing it together.
There is a lot of information around, but it's hard to dig up. True, and if you don't use the right search terms, you can miss something very informative / helpful.
Thanks for the links tater:up:

My problem is theres so much i could probably write about something, giving examples and what not, im just not sure where to start. So it's easier (at least to me), to answer a specific question. That way i can stay focused on the one thing and try and explain it as throughly as my understanding allows.
