Hi all,

Just curious, but is there a MOD available for realistically sized cargo on ships?

When you come across a large merchant for example there are just a couple of planes or huge looking tanks sitting there. They aren't in proportion to the rest of the ship at all in my opinion. I'm reading a book now on the destruction of convoy PQ17, and they mention how one merchant's deck was filled with line after line of bombers and parts', another talks about the huge quantity of tanks crammed on her deck.

In SH3 we get a hurricane with folded wings on the bow deck, and one on the stern...or gigantic looking Sherman tanks...

I'm using the superb GWX1.03 along with at least 15-20 other MOD's, and as they have modified so much of the original I wondered if I had missed a MOD that did precisely what I've been thinking about?

Thanks everyone!

There is no such mod available right now. The only way to increase the number of objects carried as deck cargo is to build merchant ships with additional "K" nodes. Wherever a "K" node is placed the game places one of whatever object is specified in the mission or campaign file (fighter, sherman, truck, crate...) I might try this with some of my cargo ships but I am still not clear on the entire process.

You can add more K nodes
Hex editing is the way IIRC
You can also turn unused A and S nodes to K nodes too

The problem is all the cargo arent standard sizes
If all the cargo were a standard size you could add a lot more K nodes

I should imagine the K node size is set to the biggest cargo which os why it looks odd with tanks and aircraft etc on deck
