Hey all, I looked around on this forum and found an old mod list from 2006. However, I was disappointed to find the majority of the mods I wanted to try out were on topics that were locked and hosted on rapidshare (and were deleted by rapidshare).

Any chance of a 2007 mod list in the works ?

Thanks.

This is an area that I dare say (and the moderators can jump in and back me up) is that this would be and has been a very time consuming thing.

Take File Front hosting site for an example, I have recently found out that if you do not visit your File Front account after (I think) 14 days; mods start being deleted from your account. They do; to their credit; send email warnings, but if you take my job foe example (Army); I'm being posted at the end of the year, I maybe off line for close to 6-12 weeks, I would hate to see how many of my mod links would be current/broken.

Great idea and I support it, but who will be the poor bugger updating it every day & contacting modders to see what is the trouble with their broken link.

I vote for Seth ! :rotfl:

We could always create a poll to see who (us members ) want to knife in the back as the member to be the account holder of this :rotfl:

Sorry the poll joke was crossing the line a bit :shifty:

I do agree in that this task is certainly not an easy one to perform. The list itself will always be a work in progress. Going through the list and seeing which mod download links work or not in itself is a massive undertaking.

Here are some suggestions that we might want to try:

1. The compiling of the mod list shouldn't be put on one person alone
2. Once the list is created, updating it once a month with new mods would be advisable.
3. Modders who post mods might be encouraged to host on more than one share service if they haven't already tried before.
4. Modders could also be encouraged to check their mod(s) and their download links periodically to see if they are still avaliable.

Might it be made possible for people to upload zip and rar files directly to this site, as you can in other forums. Or would that raise the operating costs too much, take up too much space or some such reason.

yea I think it would. But Neal Stevens would best know about his site.

The best way would be to cooperate with Terrapin with building such mods list (to use his site). But if that is impossible then we can always look elsewhere for mods hostings: just google for it; there are such web sites which are built for mods (like game-mods.com).
