Reinstalling SH3

:damn: Could some one help please.

I have tried on four occasions to reinstall the game, but it will only let me repair, despite reformating the drive the game was in (F) , removing all registry information and information in C drive

Using 2 registry cleaners, serching all drives for anything left behind, but the disc will only let me repair and not do a new installtion.

This results in me being able to install the latest update (1.4), the disc protection passes the disc, but the game will not go any further. Obviously the is some stoppng me from doing a complete reinstall. Also the game does not appear in the Add/remove programmes listed in the control panel.

Any ideas

if you go to the defult place where sh3 is put that is C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\ and delete the SilentHunterIII file it will let repair it.. it will put a new copy of sh3 in there for you :up: and you will keep all you'r save games to

Vista or XPSP2.

You might know Vista installs Programmes that are not certifed for Vista in a hidden place \VirtualStore\ and this makes some confusion. Because these file will not be deleted.

I just did a fresh install of SH3, and can't install the patch.

I'm using vista, and haven't had SH3 on here in forever, if ever.

Says that my missionengine.dll is unknown.

Any ideas?

Would really like to play sh3 again, but not without GWX

Did you try delete buy Windows tool? Start/contol Pannel/add-remove software?

:cry: For some resaon the game is not listed in the conrol panel add-remove software. i shall have to bite the bullet and reformat C drive by the looks of it.

After running it will do a reboot; then try to reinstall SH3.

To anybody using Vista with activated UAC.
Vista protects the c:\Program Files(=Programme) against access from users without appropriate rights and redirects it to a hidden directory \Virtual Store\
This may cause a bunch of problems with older, not Vista certified, programs.

Mein AVK2008 sperrt den Seitenzugriff weil Code von einem Win32: Trojan-gen. {other}. auf der Seite gefunden wurde.
Bei dem anderen Link kann ich mich vor lauter PopUps nicht erwehren.

I Have tried the SH3 Regcleaner, but it is in German, and 1 :-? :-? don't seem to be able to make it run.

Dave The success depends on your OS [WinXP] and the version of SH3 [EMEA] you use. Do you use the EMEA version or the US version?
If you have the EMEA version, then only double click on sh3_regclean.exe and wait until reboot is done [be patient]. After that try to reinstall SH3.
If you have the US version, try it anyway.

I had the same issue last weekend. I tried to uninstall but it would only allow me to repair. I could not get rid of the game no how. I removed the registry I checked the virtual files nothing there. I had the game outside the Program files as suggested. Nothing would let me reinstall the game fresh. I allowed it to go through the repair cycle but I had got a CTD every time I tried to open the game which was the original reason for trying to remove it in the first place. I ended up reformating the drive
Works fine now. Good thing its a new puter with nothing important on it. Vista is a real pain in the arse.

For future issues:

if there's only a repair installation possible -> do it. After that it should be possible again to remove SH3 via 'Add/Remove Programs'.
