How are you guys doing this.

I've overlooked something somewhere. There's no button for it like in SH3, and I went into my command.cfg to try to set a keyboard command for it, but there is no fuel estimations ranges in the command lines.

Just a Time to course end.

Are you guys doing it manually with a chart?

Please and Thank you.

Trigger Maru adds the familiar button from SH3, so that's what I use. Easy and convenient :up:

Click on range to end, @given speed/plotted distance,in chart tab.:hmm: Not sure about question correctly answered.:shifty:Make sure batteries are fully charged,or readings are off.

I'm one of the few not using TM. If one of the TM boys would point me to the specific portion for adding just the fuel ranging, I'd appreciate it muchly.

In the meantime, I'll start reverse engineering....

The command exists in the commands.cfg, the functionality is there, its just not mapped by default. I dont remember offhand the ID handle listed in the commands.cfg, so feel free to reverse enginner it. Files in question are the ordersbar.cfg (or was that upc?), and commands.cfg.

All you really have to do is map it to wherever you want it. Earlier in SH4, most folks just made a CNTRL + somehotkey command for it. you dont have to map it to the ordersbar.
I beleive CCIP developed the orginal commands.cfg mod, so that should be easier to D/L then the the TM modpack.

Thanks Ducimus.

I have been looking at all the command lines in the stock Cfg. Perhaps it's just labeled in a way I wouldn't expect.

They're all in the 'Navigator' section, and it's probably the one that appears to be time based "Time to Range end"..

Going to test. I'm not worried about the icon for the order bar. I just want a key command to give me the report.

Thanks.

It is labled in a way you woudlnt expect, thats why i dont remember what it is exaclty. If i had the ID handles in front of me i could point it out, but without the file infront of me i can't.

I think I found her...

[Cmd259]
Name=Report_range_to_course_end
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F250004

I was originally thinking this would only give me the length of my plotted course.
Adding key command. Will be back.

Thanks again.

Nope. Not it.

That did what I thought it would..gave me the distance in NM of my plotted course.

Still looking.

Time to turn, or something like that. Search for "Turn", i think that was in it somewhere, not sure, its really obscure.

MONOLITH

Yep. Found it, but there's another problem.

This is the line...

[Cmd257]
Name=Report_time_to_turn
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F250002
Key0=0x47,s,"Shift+G"

Which the TM help file identifies as the right one, via the Shift+G;

Shift+G Maximum range at current speed
Ctrl+G Range to course end
G Time to course end

I had seen the "Time to turn" But thought that might literally be asking for "Time until next course change(turn)" like Sean Connery in Hunt for Red October. :rotfl:

So, here's the problem.

I set up the command line, attached it to "F", as in F for Fuel.

It works, but the Navigator responds " maximum Range at current speed is not available". So there's something else I'm missing. I was on the surface, moving at 11 knots for several hours (TC) when I hit the F.

Any ideas?

I don't have TM, so I installed the Orders_Bar_AI1_Classic mod, it adds that button, among others (including weather report).

Weather report...I go up on the bridge.
Fuel estimation...once I hit a half tank or just below...time to head home.

Just the way I handle it. I get to the patrol area at 10 kts. I patrol at 6 knots. I only flank for end round. Plenty of fuel to get the job done. :up:

I don't think there's a 'piece' I'm missing.

There must be a condition that's wrong; like you can't get an estimate while the batteries are charging or something.

Hopefully Ducimus will know. NefariousKoel has it in the orders bar mentioned above as well.

It works, but the Navigator responds " maximum Range at current speed is not available".

Do you have unlimited fuel on? I think stock defaults with this option on, not sure. But i think I ran into this problem doing test runs until i altered the default realism settings to have it off.

MONOLITH:

I've wanted to know this command in the cfg also so was anxious to try it and it worked. I restored a save game and issued the command while viewing the map.
I was surfaced with batteries fully charged running on diesel.

Okay guys, it's working perfect now.

I think Ducimus is right, unlimited fuel.

But it wasn't by my choice. It appears that quick missions start by default at lower realism settings? At least, mine were resetting to 42 realism for some reason. And I think I didn't catch that on my first test mission.

I just retested it on several missions with my usual realism settings, and it works perfectly now.

Thanks everyone for the help. :up:
