The Whale is fully animated AND complete with sounds
Now did you expect anything less from Ref :shifty:
Adding sounds was figured out ages ago
You will see what I mean in GWX 1.04
Or rather HEAR what I mean

BBW, did you have to put their migration-routes into the campaign-layer?

Hi all
Very nice Whale!
that is the evidence, that it is nessesary to implementate some animals like this whale in SH3 or 4

CO this is sonar: contact medium distance at 63 degrees
CO to sonar: identify

I am delighted to see these developments gentlemen, whales, whale sounds on sonar, sharks - all quite marvellous and a wonderful edition to our virtual oceans!
Now, you cunning fellows beavering away in your design and development back rooms, what are the chances of somebody coming up with a "random fish shoal" able to operate at varying (random) depth and varying (random) size between largest and smallest boundaries for the shoal and size of the fish themselves.
The fish model itself need be no more than rudimentary and extremely simplified, as all the "realism" could be achieved by varying the colour, reflectance (from dull black, through blues to shimmery silver) and speed and quality of motion (alternating between sychronised & randomised on a random timebase with slower speeds the larger the individual fish comprising that shoal) size (of the standard fish in that shoal) and mingling (overlapping in 3D) shoals of different sizes and colours.
Although no modeller myself, mathematically this would not seem to be that complex to achieve in principal, as (at first) it only requires one standard fish model and all the other things are acheived by varying its size, speed and motion. IMO (as I have said elsewhere in subsim) random fish shoals all over the place would really massively enhance the realism of the underwater realm in both SH III and SH IV.
These whales and sharks are a quite marvellous demonstration of what can be achieved. Well done gentlemen! The odd random Albatross would be cool too!
Now, about parrots . . . . . :arrgh!:

Like underwater seismic activity and catarpillar drives? :D
I just find myself reminded of "Hunt for Red October": "Have I got this straight, Jonesy? A $40 million computer tells you you're chasing an earthquake, but you don't believe, and you come up with this on your own?"

Seaman Jones (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005524/): [Jonesy is teaching Beaumont] Hear it now?
Beaumont (http://imdb.com/name/nm0891224/): [resigned] No.
Seaman Jones (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005524/): Beaumont, at Caltech we used to do this in our sleep! You hear it now?
Beaumont (http://imdb.com/name/nm0891224/): Wait a minute...
Seaman Jones (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005524/): Uh oh...
Beaumont (http://imdb.com/name/nm0891224/): Disparaged surface clutter...
Seaman Jones (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005524/): Yeeeesssss?
Beaumont (http://imdb.com/name/nm0891224/): I should go to SAPS?
Seaman Jones (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005524/): Correct! Seaman Beaumont, Signal Algorithmic Processing System. Give it a week and you'll be teaching at Caltech. So, like Beethoven on the computer, you have laboured to produce... a biologic.
Beaumont (http://imdb.com/name/nm0891224/): A what?
Seaman Jones (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005524/): A whale, Seaman Beaumont, a whale. A marine mammal that knows a hell of a lot more about sonar, then you do. Train her around to 269 and lets try it again?
