I must say its nice to see that so many people have stuck with SH4 after so many problems and fights to get things corrected. It really shows what this community is about. We fought back and got another patch and possibly a forth according to a forum i was reading.

Well alot has happened since the last time i was on and now it looks like i have feel so far behind its not funny. Sh4 is growing and will soon become the best sub simulator to this day. This is in part to all those with skills far better then my own and thier mods. People that have spent so much time improving the game that UBI should hire them onto the team. Thanks alot for all the hard work and keep it up.

Well im gonna start with a fresh install of SH4 and need to know what to do from there and what mods are recommended. I have seen a ton of mods that have been released but the number of them is overwhelming. I would like to know if alot of the mods are now included in a super pack such as the "grey wolves" of SH3 or if everything has to be installed one by one. I also need help in understanding how to patch to the most recent version on the sim and how to install the mods.

Its been a long time sinse i have set sail do to finally getting my first house and moving in. I now have a basement where I can finally turn up the surround without the apartment above and below calling the office about the sounds of "running water and leaks"

I am problably gonna start a second story about the Pacific theatre and finally finish the "short" story about the Atlantic theatre. Now all I need is that new computer to really push graphics to the max but for now my heavily modded computer will stay afloat.

A big welcome to all the new captains in the forum and also to those whom i have not talked to in a long time.

Keep pushing the issues and stick together, UBI does listen if we make a big enough "splash" and commotion.

Dispite the short comings upon release, the game has grown in leaps and bounds. The developers did not abandon the game as many would have thought. In fact, they have been pretty good with addressing the concerns and correcting them with a patch. Do I see much more coming on the horizon for SH4, yep, sure do. At any rate, I always recommend you play vanilla first. Load your game and just load patch 1.3 only. Previous patches are included in 1.3. Play the game for a while and see what you want to change. Currently I use:

Reflections on the Water (ROW)....fantastic total environmental mod.
Oakgroove interior texture mod
Captain Cox officer hat/insignia mod
Capt Midnight Radio mod
Improved Campaign Layers mod....adds more missions, shipping is a bit more realistic

For the larger mod type application most are using Trigger Maru. You can use all of the above mods with Trigger Maru. Just look at the required enabling of each mod in sequence found on the Reflections on the Water thread set up by Leovampire. Remember to get the JSGME mod enabler to make life simple when adding and taking mods out.

I wasnt spoiled by other versions. the last sub sim I had was Aces of the Deep which was for those who dont know was German Uboats. It was a good game but kinda crude compaired to SH4. SH4 was kinda impulsive purchase for me.
Mods I would recommend are the 1.03 patch, Real Fleet Boat (Which includes most of the the other mods that I would recommend). I havent tryed Trigger Maru but have been thinking about it. My only Complaint about Real Fleet boat was the Deck gun but I fixed it myself and with that and Keeping the rest of RFB I dont have any other real complaints Foo Fighers Skins are also a must as they make the boats look alot better, now if only someone would work on the Battleships and there looks and armorments. The Iowas should have the Quad mounted 40's
Also add some music to the Washington Radio station and add the many differant radio mods. They make the game more bareable when patroling. Its nice to have approiate music from the era.
My only complaint about the game in hole is one cant play as some of the surface ships would be nice to have it all in one game.
