Anyone has noticed that in mid-patrol (say after a month at sea) suddenly his maximum speed is lowered up to 50% with no apparent cause and that the problem is solved exiting and reloading the game?:o :88)

No bug. Open commander . Click game play settings and uncheck model effects. You won't have any more sub malfunctions. This is rtakeing for granted your engine room is well manned and not tired.

Understood. Normally malfunctions appear in my experience at the beginning of a patrol, say when you test diesels, guns, etc (in one occasion my attack periscope gave me a image as if out there the thickest fog were present:huh: ). As far as I remember this is the first time that such a thing happens in mid-patrol. It was very uncomfortable to see your boat almost dead in the water in the middle of a terrible atlantic winter storm. But it seems that the problem is solved saving and reloading the game.

If you always load the game from SH3Cmdr and have malfunctions on you may get the "no flank speed" mid patrol, or a problem may be "repaired" by your crew.

I had the patrol /FF58/ where ive done 7000 km without encountering another ship, apart from the Sloop, which i ignored. I traveled submerged for most of the time as weather was awful, and after four weeks of nothing sunk i knew something was up.
I forgot to rollback the SH commander before installing the mod.
I rearly do that, but i reloaded the mission again and im proud to say before i reached the coast of spain i have sunk single small merchant, and about 10 hours later i discovered the slightly armed empire frighter with P. coalier on the way to states :o.

Needless to say they grace the seabed now.

The story about the murky periscope, brought back the memory of one of previous patrols where i could not use the scope due to optics being washed/just like when you brake the surface/ but even when surfeced did not cure the problem, and repair crew was just sticking two fingers up at me.

Is it not due to malfunction and sabotage option on? Just curious...
