Hi Shipmates,
Having just completed 3 hours or so of heading to my patrol area, now that the little man has headed ashore in his rubber raft and then having conducted a couple of 'dawn dives'; I have been wondering just to add to the realism that we are now enjoying, could somebody add to the sounds proior to diving?
What I am talking about is when conducting a dive that is not done at top speed, it would add to the atmosphere if prior to hearing 'dive, dive, dive', you heard, 'clear the bridge' and if possible, 'lookouts below' I dont know if it is/was real procedure, but I think it would add to the overall ambience.
Now what I suspect will be a difficult thing to achieve, if not impossible and is something that has been lacking in all of the Silent Hunter series. Is it possible if the Captain is below, when running on the surface, doing whatever other jobs are part of his daily duties, where on a specific set of triggers i.e. aircraft or warships, that the officer who is on the bridge, could order a crash dive?
Otherwise it seems to assume that the Captain is ever present, never sleeping, something that the crew enjoy, as is indicated by the Zzzzzz's on the management screen.
I just think it would add a further stage of realism and is one that no patch is likely to address.
Just the thoughts of an elderly bilge rat, who gets a lot of satisfaction from being a virtual submariner.
So looking forward to the thoughts of others more proficient at dabbling in the innards of a piece of software and working such great magic.
