Hi mates

I'm currently working on some mod to enhance the bubbles effect you see on your submarine while underwater. I just post some screenshots and a video trailer now in order to read your opinion. Only the Balao has been completed as for now but everything will be released pretty soon. I might also consider choosing approx 10 persons to beta-test it so they can give their opinion how they like it while in-game because, as you will not figure out on screenies, there's also a new animation for bubbles (i.e some moves faster to the surface while some moves slower).

DEMO
Having quite finished the Balao class submarine, i decided to release it as a demo , so everyone get a taste of this mod.
You'll get the same as what you see on screenshots, however, no less than 17 new bubbles emitters had been added since. Burst of bubbles will occasionaly flow out of limber holes along the sub etc.

Maybe some day you could get oil bubbles to come up when heavy damage occurs?

Hi,

A very good work ! very realistic ! The random bubble generation add more realism:know: than in the previous version.

A really great graphic Mod.

Now that there is actualy oil in the game we got the oil to come out of the sub with under water damage.

Nice to hear that ;) i wonder why this ROW thing drops my FPS so much while underwater... gotta have to fix that for sure!

Awesome these bubbles are out of this world!!! what a great addition this will be to Row, and leo are u serious about the oil coming from the sub if so :o:o:o Yesssss.
As far as testing goes no problems here, still running like a dream for me.

As we speak that is being looked at and worked on!

But in the picture post thread someone added a pic that shows the oil leaking from the sub. Or was it in the video's one guys made. Anyways it is there.

This sounds great! and adds even more emmersion to the underwater scenes.

@Kapitan: I made the bubbles for ROW when the ships sinks, maybe you can see if your new method with nodes can be applied to the sinking effect allso ? - later offcause, I know you are busy right now ;)

Indeed, i might take a look later on :ping:
Problem is, for whatever strange reason, i cannot use ROW at present because i get major fps drop when cam is underwater (only there, about 5-6 fps instead of 17-22)
So when we'll fix that, why not!

So when we'll fix that, why not!

Cool :cool: , I think it's because I made some better textures for the water effects, maybe I can send you some in a lower resoution to see if that solves the problem with low FPS underwater.

Sorry about that believe me the work you did get's seen a lot in my game when I am not on the surface testing other things. You are doing some great work with the bubble effect's for the sub's.

Porpoise is now finished and 100% ROW compatible. Features a total of 40 bubbles emiters.

BTW, I'd like to thanks Skwas for his marvelous Silent 3ditor, and foofighters Hi-res skin s wich are used in this mod to accuratly place bubbles

Im curious, why are air bubbles coming out of a WWII Fleet boat realistic? Isnt a submarine an airtight vessel? The only time air in that quantity would be coming out is when the submarine would be diving and air is coming rrom under the deck out the top of the deck and limber holes.

Air is not being released while the submarine is underwater or as men are exhailing air and the boat is underway underwater so I am confused as to where all these air bubles are coming from.

Comming out of differn't area's of the sub. But the way the bubble emmiters are set up for the sub's there is no start end time set up for them like lightning and explosion's. For the time being until a way can be founf to incorporate those eliments into the emmiters you either have them or you do not.

But the way he is setting them up they disipate better and spread out and get carried allong with the sub a bit to be more natural in movment. And not these big over grown things it use to produce for effect's.

It has been done without any realism consideration... Of course you wouldn't have so many bubbles escaping the deck, that goes without saying. It's pure eye-candyness, to get a movie-like effect as far as SH4 rendering engine limitations permits. That's why things like that are good to be released as a mod, so you can stick with something more realistic without (although i never scuba-dived near a WWII submarine so i can't state for sure...) or decide to go with it.

It'll be up to you ;)
