Gar Class Submarine: Laid down, 2 April 1940, at Portsmouth Navy Yard, Portsmouth, NH; Launched, 20 November 1940; Commissioned, USS Grenadier (SS-210), 1 May 1941; Lost to enemy action in the Lem Voalan Strait, northeast Indian Ocean, hit by Japanese bombs 21 April 1943, scuttled by her crew 22 April 1943; Struck from the Naval Register, (date unknown); Grenadier received four battle stars for World War II service
