I know this is probably a topic that you have seen many time, but I need help to get up and running with GWX. I have a clean version of SH3 v 1.4b installed on my PC. I have downloaded GWX v1.03, also GWX 1-bin.[ which I think is the first version. However on startup the game goes t the GWX screen gets half way through and then crashes back to desk top. I have downloaded the GWX a couple of times but same result! Can anyone help. Thanks . Wivs.

It's the first file of the first version.

There are five more files to install after that.

Then you apply the 1.03 patch.

Hope this helps :)

Click on my sig and you will find a links for everything you need for successfully install. First you must to have a clean install of SH3 patched to v.1.4b, then download GWX.exe, the five *.bin files and the latest patch v.1.03 into the same folder. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts after that run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts. Enjoy the GWX experience!

Hi, thanks for your advice. I have downloaded all the file and run GWX.exe. The set up is telling me that my version of SH3 is not a valid installation. This definately is a valid disc and was bought from Amazon. Itis also v1.4b. Any ideas!

This is the full process for installing GWX:

Basic Install of GWX

1) Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2) Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3) Reinstall SH3
4) If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5) OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6) Visit the GWX Sticky (available by clicking on our sigs) and download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7) Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9) SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Visit the GWX Sticky and download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

If you want to run multiple versions of SHIII then you need to follow this procedure:

Install of Multiple Versions

1) Complete a fresh install of SH3 + 1.4b as normal.
2) Create a copy of the program folder & rename as required.
3) Install your mod of choice to the renamed version.
4) Create and rename shortcuts as required.
5) Use MultiSH3 to create separate save locations for each install.

SH3 Commander & Multiple Installs

It is recommended to have a separate install of Commander for each different install of SH3.
1) Install SH3Commander and rename the program folder to suit.
2) Rename each SH3Cmdr shortcut as required.
3) You will need to use the l: switch to point SH3Cmdr to the right installation.

Here's an example of the l: switch for dual installs, just tailor it to fit.....

Right click on the SH3Cmdr shortcut & choose properties.

Target
"C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander-GWX\SH3Cmdr.exe" /l:"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent HunterIII-GWX"

Start in
"C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander-GWX"
