View Full Version : Can you help me find my Chronograph?

Attention menu_1024_768.ini guru's :know:
I am running Ducimus' excellent Trigger Maru 1.6 mod with the 1.6.2 patch.
When I press 'X' on my keyboard this should bring up the Stevens watch, right?
I think, based on another post somewhere, that due to my ultra-high resolution (2650x1600), that my chronograph is popping up offscreen somewhere.
Can someone tell me what to edit in the menu_1024_768.ini file so I can change the position where this pops up? I need pretty specific instructions since my 'modding skillz' are almost nil.
This also appears to happen with the Conversion Chart popup...when I click the button it doesnt show up on the screen anywhere.
Thanks.

I must have asked more than I thought...:-?
After looking through the [TEC] Tutorial: Deconstructing the menu_1024_768.ini file items by Zamboni, I'm fairly certain I don't think I can figure out how to move these two items the watch and the conversion chart into view...especially since I can't even figure out where in the 1024_768.ini file they exist :oops:
So one more chance for this thread before it disappears into forum oblivion.....anybody help me?

Not an expert on anything but why not switch to a lower resolution, move the items to the center of the screen and then switch back to your original resolution?

Fire a torpedo ;)
Did ratcheting back the resolution help?

Thanks for your replies guys!
When I turn the resolution down they do appear normally. I did take and center them both on the screen, save the game, switch the resolution back up...and they do not reappear :damn:
Unfortunately I am fairly certain I have to mod my menu_1024_768.ini file to change their default positions on the screen (where they appear). However...I'm a computer hardware guy, not a software one...and I don't even know where to begin to look for the watch and conversion chart items...
Fortunately life for me does not end by not having the watch and conversion chart in the game, but any help is appreciated:yep:
Here is another curve-ball....In the stock game (1.3) with Trigger Maru 1.6.2 disabled (I use no other mods) the watch appears normally, even at the highest resolution...

?
Are you seeing the entire screen in both resolutions or is it cropped, so to speak?

As far as I can tell I see the entire screen. The nomograph shows up on the right hand side of the sreen, the ruler and other tools are all there, the time shows properly in the bottom right of the screen. Everything looks the same at 1680x1050 as it does at 2560x1600 in terms of whats on the screen....except at 2560x1600 I dont get the draggable watch, nor do I get the conversion chart.
I also just tried at 1920x1200. At this resolution I again can no longer access the conversion chart, but the stopwatch appears right at the right edge of the screen, just enough showing I can actually click on it enough to drag it into view. So at 2560x1600, I suspect its popping up, but so far over to the right that I can't see it or move it into view.
Recap:
1680 - entire stopwatch visible as normal, conversion chart appears at top left ready to drag.
1920 - just a portion of the left hand side of the stopwatch visible on the right of the screen, conversion chart not visible.
2560 - no stopwatch or conversion chart visible.
Yet everything works just fine at any resolution in the stock game.
Edit: If you look at page 41 post 811 of the Trigger Maru thread you see someone else (Neumanf15) that has the same thing with the chronograph at 1920x1200 where it appears partly off the screen.
I'm curious if anyone else here has a screen that can run 2560x1600 that runs Trigger Maru has the same problem...but I think not too many people run that high resolution.
Yeah I have the same problem, I asked I think in Ducimus's thread but no one offered a solution.:cry:
I run at 2560x1600 or 1920x1200 depending on whether I am in WinXP or Vista 64, and the chron/chart visibility issues are the same as yours.:hmm:
I also took one look at the file and said to myself, self you could really bork stuff up in there LOL!
Hey Zantham after much trepidation and gnashing of teeth I ventured into the menu1024_768.ini file and have the Gramophone/Conversion Chart on the screen in 1920x1200:up:
You just need to paste these lines over the current version in menu1024_768.ini.

This makes the chart appear on the right hand side slid off, all ya have to do is grab it.
I will look into the Chrono and 2560x1600 sometime this week....RL intervenes, good night.
Well could not resist checking it in 2560x1600 before going to bed and the above fix works for this resolution also:rock:
I'll get back sometime this week on the Chrono.:yep:

Jhereg thanks for gnashing your teeth and over coming your trepidation! :lol: Your fix is exactly what I was looking for and works perfectly! I hope you can find the solution to the missing chronograph as well.
Well, I regret to inform everyone that fixing the Chrono is well beyond my means:damn: LOL knew it was, but was worth a try!
It will take someone who knows how the file positions objects, I looked on google etc. for instructions to no avail.
At least I got my music back:yep:

I am sure he would be willing to fix this for you all as he does know where and how that clock is handled very well.
I think I have it fixed (at least it works on my machine) it will require the replacement of the .ini file with the new one as my dumbness overcame me and I did not track the changes I made as I was getting a wee tad frustrated:damn:
Anywho, as soon as I hear back whether it works for others I will post it somewhere.
Oh, and it already has the Gram/Conversion Chart fix also.
Well I am not getting a reply from Zantham, if anyone wants this PM me and we will figure out how to get it to you.
Can you send files via PM?

you have to upload them to some other site then put the url to it on the PM message like you would in a thread for pictures and so forth.
Thanks for the info Leo, and great work on ROW!!!!:rock:

Hi guys:
Sorry Jhereg, I got your PM and answered it just now...and then I found this thread. Again thanks for working on this, and I look forward to trying your .ini file out!
Hey all, I forgot that the Betterscopes 1.3 Mod was installed and uses the menu1024_768.ini file.:oops:
So if you use my fix you will need to install Betterscopes 1.3 on your machine before putting my menu1024_768.ini file in, as a quick fix I have also put Betterscopes up on my FF account.
I will go thru my .ini and remove the references to Betterscopes then reupload it, thank you for your patience.
All right, I have put up the cleaned .ini file on my FF page http://hosted.filefront.com/TheJhereg
If you do not want Betterscopes 1.3 use the No Betterscopes file.
These are not JSGME ready just copy over the current .ini file in your SH4.
Sorry about the winding road folks this is the first time I have ever fixed anything LOL!

I play my game on a 1600x1200 setting and the above cut and paste also worked for my setting.
Thank you. :up:

For anyone still watching this thread, thanks it put me on the right track.
For 2560x1600 in TMO 2.2 the Chrono, Gramo, Radio and map don't work.
To fix them all, modify these sections of menu_1024_768.ini:
Don't just dump it into the file of course find each [section] and replace just that section as per these sections:
[G2C I1]
Name=Page UserRadio
Type=1027;Menu page

Zone= 756 512 268 256 0 1 0x4B000000 1 -0.5 0x4B010000 -1 0.5 0 0

[G29 I2]
Name=Chrono
Type=1026;Menu group
ItemID=0x29020000
ParentID=0x29000000

Then you'll find these items appear on the right, just drag them to where you want.
