You can see the new wave textures in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGcFhXClDCY

Click the link in my sig to download the mod.

PLEASE NOTE!
The new wave textures should only show in rough weather. To test the mod after downloading, I suggest launching the single mission "Bismark" which takes place in a storm.

For details of what this mod does see this post (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=641621&postcount=62).

Download the mod here (http://files.filefront.com/ImprovedWaveTextureszip/;8510492;;/fileinfo.html).

I forgot to put a readme in it, but all it would have said is:

Thanks to JCWolf for hosting the mod!
This mod is JSGME ready.
Enjoy :)

Well done matey, thankyou for this mod. Much appreciated from me.

I'm new to SH3 and was wondering if this mod is a standalone or is it used in combination with, like, Sober's 3D waves? I'm hoping my aging system will be able to handle it, the visual impact of the video you made is astounding!

This mod will work with any other mod and/or supermod except for Sober's 3D Waves. It's is an alternative to Sober's 3D Waves, not an addition to it.

Erm, no, no ideas. One question: what are you opening the TGA's with? Cos unless you open them in a proper editor (e.g. GIMP) you'll likely see nothing.

Not that this helps you much...

To rule out the easy stuff: did you test the mod in rough weather?

Slick Rick

Yes....but I think I have too many mods activated that deal with the water....I am going to disable them all and just activate your mod and see what happens....

Genedige Onelifecrisis,

You asked us to keep the praise coming (even though your head will expand sooooo big and explode). What a mod. I keep using the external camera on patrol now - just to have a look at the realism of the sea. Nice one. Keep up the excellent work :D.

Yes he has to wear a special helmut now with a back brace so as not to break his neck, but he can live with this thorn in the side!

Nice effort, looks really good!

Had to deactivate it though - it killed my framerate. I've got no problem with playing SH4 and get 60 FPS all the time except when I get a torpedo hit. In SH3 with your mod active I got 15-20 FPS and major stuttering as well. Ordinarily in SH3 I have 60 FPS constantly.

I have a Nvidia 8500 GT running at 700/500 btw. I've force 4xFSAA and 16AF through the control panel, maybe that's what giving me the bad FPS?

On my machine SH3 and AF are not such a good combination (which is unusual - in most games I can run AF very high with no noticable performance hit). Because of this I use low AF with SH3 and I've noticed no performance hit from my mod. However it's quite possible that using my mod with high AF would cause slowdown, seeing as how my mod basically replaces some low resolution textures with new higher resolution ones.

Did you try lowering the AF? Even just bringing it down to 8x might make all the difference.

The AA will have no impact on the performance of the mod.

I haven't tried lowering the AF, will do that tonight and give you feedback of my results.

Thanks for such a great mod. I was a commercial fisherman in the late 70's (off-shore scallopper out of Cape Cod) and my favorite part of that experience was the storms. It has been part of my attraction to SHIII and now you have brought me a lot closer to those memories and that sensation. Bravo!

I lowered the AF as you said - lo and behold! the stuttering and FPS slowdowns went away!

Thanks a lot, now I'm gonna use your mod all the time.

5string74 - really? That's brilliant! :D Wow, I guess my own (relatively small amount of) time at sea must have paid off when I did this! hehe :smug:
