Just a Work in Progress, for now a repaint, but i'm thinking to modify the 3d model:

It def does look very nice.
Maybe finish it up and release two different versions???
Like one incomplete for the history buffs....and one complete that us others can pummel to rust after the italians through in the white flag.

Yes, i will release a incomplete version (without guns for example) and a complete version.
Aquila was 90% complete at war end:
Aquila (Italian language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_language): "Eagle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle)") was an Italian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy) aircraft carrier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_carrier) designed and built during World War II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II). It was a modification of the liner Roma. The conversion started in 1941; at the time of the Italian armistice (8 September (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_8) 1943 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1943)), the conversion was almost complete, but the ship was never delivered to the Regia Marina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regia_Marina). It was scrapped in 1952.

The conversion started at Cantieri Ansaldo, Genoa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genoa), in mid-1941. After the war, Aquila was brought to La Spezia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Spezia), where she was scrapped in 1951-52.

Maya 7.0 supports importing/exporting OBJ files? Is this the PLE edition you're using?
With the right Plug-In, maya can import Obj :yep: :up:

Mmmm :hmm: :hmm: these ships are very different from Aquila (and G. Zeppelin)...
for now, i can say this work will take me a lot of time, and i've another project for the immediate future...
This is the state-of-art for aquila, you can see it is no finished, and it isn't near to be finished :damn: :

I know it's still a WIP, but in the last picture, I think the island looks strangely small compared to planes. :hmm:

Today i've reworked the bow and the stern, and some minor details near the cranes;

I think that you need more work in ship for more autentical.
Yes, the releas isn't near. :damn:
Just look at the hull of the model: it's naked, if you see the blueprints.
A lot of objects must be added.. it will take a lot of time. :roll:

someone know how to insert a new node for a dynamic object (like a propeller, or rudder..)? i'm thinking to moving parts like radar ecc...

:o It looks to me like the model is almost ready.:up: All I would recommend (aside from technical things like moving the flag) is to make a few more changes to the bow.:yep:

It's more a normals/material problem, sh3 does not use the shadow (SHD_) objects, dynamic shadowing is not enabled, first check that all the faces normals are ok, if they are try cutting (separating) the surfaces that have a sharp angle between them (ie: hull/deck), if the edge poligons are sharing the vertices and uv coordinates sometimes the engine has trouble rendering, also you need to check the materials nodes (type 0x02) for it's properties (the bytes between the id and the tga name), I recomend using one of the bismark's materials as a base. If you don't know how to do it PM me and we'll figure a way to fix it.
