I can't believe this. I have been running GWX for many months now (with Commander) and doing fine. Yesterday I DL'd Reece's mod "SHIV scene for SHIII" and then I started having problems loading the game (not sure if that mod is cause of problem or just a coincidence). Just as screen would say, "Not so long ago..." I would get bounced out of the game and that window that says: "SHIII has experienced an error and needs to close, blah, blah..." I did send an error report to microsoft.
I deleted the mod, then commander, then that particular installation. I tried running vanilla. I tried running Real UBoat, I installed GWX and Commander to a clean version. Now they all cut out during the FIRST screen you see (the one that says SHIII with the DL bar at the bottom) and that error window appears. I tried putting by brand new SHIII disk in. Still cuts out. What the...:damn:
Any ideas? I can't imagine I can't play with my obsession anymore! Help!

Ouch... maybe run a disk check? *shrug*
Edit: I'm off to bed so in case you don't know... right click on C: drive, properties, tools tab, check disk for errors (button)
I'm not saying that's the cause but in your situation that's what I'd check, maybe someone else has better input tho...
I doubt that my mod would cause any problems unless mixing 8k & 16k versions & this would only produce wierd skies, it is recommended that you start a new patrol though before enabling any mods.:yep: 99% sure it is something else, try just running navigation accademy & if that is ok then try restarting the patrol from base.
Hope this helps.
Were you in port and did you roll back SH3Commander when the mod got loaded?

Ya know, I don't remember now, but maybe that's what I did - loaded it when I wasn't in port. I ran Chkdisk overnight and went to bed when it started verifying the free space (step 5 of 5 - steps 1 to 4 went through without a hitch). When I got up there were no results and 'puter was booted up fine. I have a 300GB second drive for my games. My other game works fine. So now, barring any other workable ideas, I will try uninstalling all versions of the sim including GWX and do a reinstall. (oh, brother) Please stop me from doing this tonight!!

Stop doing this tonight, that's an order!:nope:
Maybe the problem is as follows:hmm: You incorporated new mod to your game, than you run SH3 commander, next you deleted that mod and fergot to rollover SH3 commander. What about that .... if it's so..., all you need is to rollback SH3 com., than you have to load your game using SH3 com. again. If you made your save at harbour or anywhere else after loading new mission, the only way is to load your "in base" or "after patrol" (the last one I mean) save game.:yep:
That suggestion made above is for any guys messing with mods (me too), but you really messed it all up. Your approach was toooo fast captain. In that case I suggest to back up your C:/SH3 files and spoil another night.

Hello Mates.
Well, pontuis and Cezbor put me on the right track. I deleted that career and that did the trick. My guy was ready to retire anyway. Lucky to have made it to Sept. 1943. I was longing for the happy days anyway. Will be more careful in future.
It is a great thing to know that all you mates are out there when I run aground. Thanks for your help!
