Hey modding gurus.
How do you change the time compression values? I tried to change them in the main.cfg and it had no effect on the sim. I want to change the 3d render to 256x.
Yes, my rig can handle it. :|\\
THANKS!

Will the game render 3D at that speed? If so what would be the point?

SHIII did. I used to TC at 256x on the bridge while watching my crew spin around in circles!! The usefulness is that you can speed time past 32x while keeping an eye on that merchant or a land mass so you dont run aground.
I want to go past 32x in SHIV while watching the PPI. It would make those tedious end-around manuevers much faster if I could constantly watch the PPI plot and not have to go to the nav map to push past 32x.
Another BIG reason to change the TC limits is that when sitting on the bottom you can only go to 4x. I would like to go much higher since I like to wait on the bottom till nightfall to make those harbor photo recon runs.
SHIII commander allowed for TC limit changes. However I cannot figure out how to do it in SHIV.

I just tested it and it works.
You are just changing the wrong main.cfg. Changing the main.cfg in your SH4 installation folder doesn't do the job.
You should change the main.cfg that can be found here:
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\username\Eigene Dateien\SH4\data\cfg\main.cfg
(I have the german language OS)
In the english version of Windows it must be something like that:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\my files\SH4\data\cfg\main.cfg

DANKE!!!
I would have never thought of looking there. This is a big change from the way SHIII worked. I will try it out as soon as I can!

Actually it is the same in SH3 iirc. You have to edit the .cfg in "My Documents", not the one in the game folder.
