Hi People,
Well It looks as if Harry has found a soulution for those having issues with "Walking the Deck", By removing copies of Cameras.dat (renamed to .xxx) the problem has been solved.

NOTE:I did leave the "rotation" changes in the commands.cfg.
THere should be a warning included in mods about the issue of COPIES causing problems!!
Now I can relax and get back to sailing.
Thank you all for the great mods and many thanks to HARRY! :know:

Joe, thanks but really was no need for a new thread ;) Especially considering I like to "fly under the radar" so to speak :rotfl:
At any rate would be helpful to post a link to original thread so people know what you're talking about without having to hunt around. So here it is:

Deals with a problem that some of us had with Sergbuto's camera mod allowing you to "walk the deck" of your sub. Some (myself included) had a problem with A) the camera rotating up/down/left/right when moving around the deck, and B) "shaky" camera when panning with mouse.
I'd worked out a couple "fixes" for that problem involving mods to Cameras.dat and Commands.cfg, but neither addressed the true cause of the issue, and both caused more problems. I finally found what was causing the original problem this morning, and that's what Joe is on about! See the thread I linked to for details...

Sorry, DirtyHarry3033 but credit earned is credit given! I have so been trying to get this to work just perfect and now it does, and I appreciate your time and effort. Three cheers for HARRY! ..... ..... .....

Now, if someone could work that mod + this fix + one of the supermods (say, 'Trigger Maru'), THEN we'd be cookin' with gas!

working already :D
all cams except the deck-cam are ready. haven't managed to get satisfying swaying effects for that one, yet.

While it technically WORKS, it also breaks all the camera changes that TM made - it over-writes the file completely.
Ergo, the request to 'merge' them all together.

hehe, that's what i meant ;)
i am working on a version based on TM 1.6 atm. not only does it change the deckcam to be freely movable but does a few other enhancements as well ;) all that's left right now is to iron out a bug concerning the freelook inside the sub...

Oh, awesome! I can't wait - this definitely looked like an awesome mod, I just couldn't do without all the work in TM to use it!
Will these > < be enabled. Please:up:
mhh... are you talking about the camera mod i included in ROF? if so, these functions are not affected by the camera itself, but by the control-changes made by tm 1.6.2 . i'm not a guru in this regard, but what i did to get them back (at least the buttons) was to install the "All-In-One Orders Bar" you can find here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=122156
doesn't get you the keystrokes, but you can switch from unit to unit via the interface buttons. there's a way to get the keystrokes back by modifying the commands.cfg i imagine but i'll have to look that up...
There is a mod, [REL] first/third-person-view cameras mod v1.0 By Sergbuto.
We have installed over T_M_1.6,patched to 1.6.2,then reverse engineered next(>),& (<)previous contact view in external camera by removing(;)used to comment out these commands in commands .cfg. The camera does not return to default position after use,or reset. Now we could be missing some trick to get it to work correctly.
"Walking the Deck",which seems similar to shift-F2. Now DirtyHarry3033, claims to having repaired,"Especially considering I like to "fly under the radar" so to speak".So no one can figure out the fix,& two PMs later we can not get a response from under the radar,DirtyHarry3033.
So thank you, l3th4l,For taking an interest. There is no one thread committed to,or supported by an effort to fix,or explain/repair of this issue.

Donut, sorry  That box showing PM's is so damn small I don't even notice it. I've fixed that prob by enabling email notification of new PM's, and the pop-up if I'm logged in when I get one.
As far as any "fixes" I did on Sergbuto's mod, the symptom I and others were having was the camera pitching up/down at the same time as moving forward/back. Like you're in a plane that's doing a loop. Also, panning left/right with mouse was very shaky. I "fixed" those by remapping the cursor keys in Commands.cfg to the numpad arrow keys (which corrected the pitch up/down problem when using cursor keys for movement) and by changing 3 rotation values in Cameras.dat to 0.
As it turns out, NONE of that was necessary - I had a "Copy of Cameras.dat" in my Library folder and that was the entire cause of the problem  SH4 was reading Sergbuto's modded Cameras.dat and the "Copy", and merging them together. So the cursor keys got Sergbuto's new movement effect, and also got the default pitch up/down behavior from the unmodded "Copy of Cameras" file. So when you tried to move, in addition to moving, the camera also rotated up/down.
All I had to do was delete "Copy of Cameras.dat", undo all my changes to Commands.cfg and reinstall Sergbuto's mod. It worked perfect after that!
Now on to your question - the problem is the camera not returning to the default position after you move it and go to the next ship?
If so I believe that's by design, so you don't start out so far from the other ships next time you use the cam. If you point the camera away from a ship then hit ">" or "<" to move to the next one, that ship won't be visible - the camera will still be pointing in whatever direction it was with the last ship. The camera remembers it's distance, height and bearing when you move to other ships. Just pan the camera around and you'll find the ship!
If that's the issue, I don't have a clue how to fix it. But I'll look at it if I get time today and see if I can figure it out!
Sounds like you already editted Commands.cfg to enable "<" and ">", to verify, the commands to uncomment are [Cmd50] and [Cmd51].
If you're getting some other bizarre behavior such as the camera "looping" while moving, look in Library folder for another copy of Cameras.dat and delete it if you find one!
Apologies again Donut, I wasn't ignoring you I just didn't notice the PM's

Knowledgeable talent is the way we learn,Thxs. Many of the older mods are going unsupported,& becomming unuseable, also so many threads with simular issues,& segmented trains of thoughts is difficult to follow, thus needed PM resort.Yours,Donut:sunny:
