View Full Version : [Rel] Leaving Harbor Sound Mod

This is my 1st attempt at releasing one of my sound mods so here goes!
I have always found leaving the harbor on patrol a bit boring..sound wise. I mean we are leaving port to begin a great hunt for the fatherland right!
Well now it sounds like it.
Lots of people cheering and horns blowing and men calling out. I think you will find it works very well.

It is also JSGME capable ( thanks Madmike81)
Pls comment good or bad...I have thick skin:up:

Vader 1, are you dutch immigrated from Holland?
I have to try this mod. The normal harbor sound are indeed boring.
I want to hear the dutch harbor sounds.
I will come back for an answer.
 SUPER!!!
Vader you make fine addiction to game! Thank you man!
That is incredibly realistic goodbye for u-boat!
Tell me which program you use to mix sounds?

Thank you gents I am working on a few other minor additions to add some color to the game. I am still learning how to trick the game into giving what I (subjective) think it should do regarding the sounds and speech. Its truly a shame SO many speech files where never used:damn:

Well I have to admit I am overwhelmed with the comments so far...I am indeed humbled.
I am working on a second project of using the music files to add "sub boat color" to the sim
The premise being that say when you leave port "intro_1_mix" is played (and had it not been for Lutzow excellent music mod I would have never thought of this angle)
Lets have some backround action on this track. What makes this work is if you start a attack or are moving in the tracks change automatically. This will will take some time and experimenting but I think I can pull it off ( fingers crossed)
I need to chat with Lutzow & Chris regarding some files but the work on this began last night. I will keep all posted as to progress

IIRC the stock game has a number of "moods" where the background music is changed depending on the situation. e.g.; you get more dramitc music when attacking or being hunted and more relaxing musing when cruising and not much is happening.
Assuming you can use these changes in "mood" to change the tracks you should be able to make that work. I'm not sure that this will work with GWX though AFAIK the GWX mod gets rid of the mood music entirely. I say this cos music on is the default setting in SHIII and I don't turn it off but I also don't hear any background music in GWX when playing. I get the Hanging theme song at the menu screen but nothing else in game.

Ya nailed it right one the head the trick will be to fully determine which tracks are playing when. In my 1st test my "intro_1_mix" is AC/DC Hells Bells...made for some fun traveling as I left port. :rotfl: ..but seriously I am setting up current music I know well just renamed so I can tell when a certain file is played.
Now in regards to not working with GWX I am currently on patrol using GWX1.03 and I hear Lutzow_Music_Mod_V[2]music just fine. (option screen top box must be checked) . His mod truly adds to the immersion factor
This sounds awesome, and a must try! One question though, dose this conflict in any way with GWX? A dumb question mabey, but I would hate to get a dreaded conflict message from JSGME when I go to enable it. Thanks.:)
