Yo Kaleuns - i'm testing new mod named SH-3FX_0[1].1b which i found on DKruger site.
There is no readme and i don't know if this mod is compatible for GWX but i decided to
make a trial. I'm putted this into JSGME (with GWX installed).
There are nice graphic effects.

Those effects i'm observed through just one patrol - i think there will
be more super eyecandy's. Good work Kruger!;)

Aren't funnel smoke stacks any taller? I really wish I couls see smoke on the horizen before I see ships. :lol:

you have missed my funnel smoke mod then didn't you?? You will see the smoke before the ship....

Yep. For starters, maybe you could resize those skins downwards by half twice.

I wonder what the polycount for that aircraft is roughly in comparison to other more conservative builds.

Edit: Sorry to hijack. The thread is about effects.

Speaking of the effects.

Holy Cow!

I should have popped some screenies but i was too busy gawking at the screen most of the time.

The brown water mixed in with the torpedo spray is nice.

The small debris kicking up spary around the targets is better.

The smoke isnt too much of an FPS killer....but man if you bust someones fuel tank and it lights on fire...prepare to see 1 FPS...lol.

But the best part i have seen is the flamming debris comming off explosions. It is the most realistic fire effects i have yet to see in this game. Stunning is a good word.

The addiction to this game gets worse and worse....lol.

PS...if anyone using this mod knows what files i need to dispose of so i dont get the oil fires i would be greatful...but other than that....this mod is good stuff.

I haven't looked at the file(s) for this yet but I would bet money on it that they (new effects) are new versions of effects in the particles.dat file. If you replace that then you lose all 'new' effects. I'll have to add this to my list of things to check out. :hmm:

The screenshots look wonderful. I was going to ask if anyone could import the SH4 effects into SH3 but now it looks like it isn't necessary.

I got it and have tested, its great thanks very much, been after this for so long now. :up:

Back on topic- Has anyone on a mid spec machine tested this mod out on a convoy?
It looks great but I would like to know about the effect it has on performance before I bite the bullet.

My thoughts exactly,what sort of FPS hit can we expect?:hmm:If your in the middle of a convoy and you light a ship up does everything go to slow-mo,not the best thing to happen just as DD's come sniffing along:nope:

How can you apply new splash, smoke, particles. fire ...without significant effect on torp hit visuals ???

I will try to get one today...plus several others. New puppy here in the house...lol...so im waiting for the little ankle biter to go to sleep so i can play...she is a handful.

As far as a mid spec machine that might be me. i run it with a HP Zd 8000 laptop.

Windows xp
Pentium 4 3.40ghz
1.00 gb ram
ATI Radeon 600

But in all seriousness the only really large fps hit i take is from the oil fires in this mod. If im anywhere near them its pretty bad. But other than that it doesnt seem to hurt me too bad.

Have tried this shiv mod and it works. It`s awesome together with
other mods.

I have played one mission in which i torpedoed a destroyer.
What a blast. After that the smoke...real great.

My specs.

geforce 6800gt
2 gb ddr ram
amd 3 ghz processor

This mode has had unintended consequences for me.

After installing it using JSGME I found that the resolution had been locked in at 1024X768, overriding the configuration specified on the d3dc9.cfg file. Previously I had the game running at 1366X768.

So I uninstalled the mod, in fact I uninstalled all mods, and I tried different resolutions, but they donīt work anymore, resolution stays locked in at 1024X768.

Somebody please help, the game looks terrible at such a low rez.

No, it wasnīt, but I enabled it after reading your post. It did work, but I had to reduce the resolution from 1366x768 to 1360x768, otherwise it would revert to the default rez.

Thanks for the tip, 1024x768 just wasnīt cutting it.

Is write-protection unchecked, for the d3dc9.cfg ?

Did anyone tried the files for serchlights? (I do not mean the tga-files.) They do not work on my installation. The material-file did also not work, it makes the lightnigs on bad weather, to big white squares.

I also had some problems with this mod. There are large, transparent white squares every time there is an explosion. I also noticed bubbles coming out of ships when they were still on the surface.

Check the particles.dat file for the particle generator that makes the lightning. Get the Id from the 'material=' and check that against the materials.dat file. You'll most likely find it doesn't exist in materials.dat thus big white boxes. You need to get the correct ID from materials.dat and place it into the particles.dat for the lightning.

I looked and there is no embedded image so there should have been a .tga in the tex normal folder, but there is not.

I believe if I fool around with it tomorrow after some sleep I will be able to put some lightning tga's in and will give it a go:up:

If your talking about the bodies flying and large explosions..nope...they are still there.

And I will agree the lightning thing is crazy annoying.

But i think with a few treaks here and there this would rank up highly as far as an eye candy mod would go.

I have white rectangles over my port lighthouses, i have no my lovely textures on dock walls and surface. People in the port are half placed in the ground!!! Lighthouses are ugly and nasty - where are the beloved ones from Flakmonkey mod?
Interesting effects - good topic - VERDAMMT!
What to do now? Reinstalling whole game?

The speed the wind is blowing the smoke on a calm day is a not right & the flag is blowing the opisite direction, also this effect persists even after ship is sunk:

I don't think this mod is GWX compatable, certainly some further editing is needed!:yep:

mmmmm just seen this it look's famalier a lot of the file you see in the mod are from sh4 the zonefile was tweek with the sh3 timetraveller's some of the line in the zone file are from sh4 zone file that is how you get the smoke like it this this mod was made some time ago and i dont no how you got hold of it:hmm: o yeah. yes it dose make the lightning go away have to replase the ligthning file to get it back witch i have

Yeah I just took the texs and imported em into the GWX Materials.dat and am getting the better part of this mod.

It seems to be a Work in Progress not a complete mod as there are several test .tga's in the tex folder.

All I can say is user beware....LOL:damn:

All I can say is user beware....LOL:damn: yes that is y it was not put up for down load it was upload to ff for a short time for some one to down load then delete till it was finish. there are still bugs and its not to stabel online
