I'm a newbie at modding and I having difficultly installing the radio mods in particular 'fred8615's' mod for AFRS. I've downloaded the zip file, extracted the contents and then enabled the mod with JSGME but no luck. I also could not find the 19 files that need to be downloaded 'in order to extract properly'.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I'd appreciate any help mates! Thanks!

I haven't finished uploading all the AFRS files after Filefront deleted them last week without warning. Right now I'm uploading part 13. All 19 should up by tommorrow afternoon. I'll post a notice in the [REL] Radio stations, music and Captain's Desk Photo Mods thread when I'm finished.

Once you have all the parts, be sure to read the readme file for the installation instructions. If you still have problems/questions, ask here, or send me an e-mail (address in the readme).

If you don't want to mess with doing all the "work" by hand you can use the RadioStationManager (found at http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=120510 ) to do all the work that requires a Doctorate from M.I.T.

Do yourself a favor, though. I realize that this stuff can be frustrating, but coming at folks with that kind of attitude isn't going to get you much help. If you want help, we'll do what we can.

Pardon me Sir. I was out of line.

Meanwhile, without a boat radio for the last several days at sea, the crew has grown increasingly surly and restless.

The captain now senses a morale issue that could now threaten the crew’s very spirit and fighting trim! Something needs to done. The captain gets on the boat’s intercom and announces, "Command room, this is the captain. Mr. Roberts, I want the boat’s radio repaired ASAP and before the next light."

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9672/reonitsirkj9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

"Aye, aye Sir, we on it!" answers the boat’s XO. But the boat’s been at sea for several days, and is more than 1000 miles from the nearest port or base and spare radio tubes are as rare as ‘hens’ teeth’ in the forward area.

The XO thinks for a minute or two, "I ‘ve got it!"

After the captain retires to his bunk for the night, the Ensign Pulver hails an Aussie frigate later that evening and a boarding party is sent out to meet the frigate to hopefully trade for some radio tubes. The captain may not miss a case or two of the ‘San Miguel’ that was loaded last at Manila but I'm not so sure about the autographed 8"x10" color glossy of Rita Hayworth that was just above his bunk.

But what does it matter as long as the crew is now content and happy and a possible mutiny has been averted. Mr. Roberts sends his compliments to 'Digital_Trucker' and to 'reallydedpoet' for all their assistance.
To be continued....

:rotfl: I certainly like that approach a lot better. Only one request though, please don't call me Sir, I'm an enlisted man (or was, anyway).

Very nice work, by the way, on the entire story and the way you told it. My only question is, is there anything we can do to help you or do you have it under control now. If you still need help, I have an idea to get your surly crew calmed down. How about and all Liberace and Barry Manilow station? The haunting lyrics of "I Sink the Ships, I Sink the Ships" should certainly calm them down.

Seriously, if you're still in need of assistance ring us back up and we'll see what we can accomplish.

Hey DT,

I'm glad you enjoyed the story. It was great therapy after my previous post. I was having such a tough day all around (last Thursday) especially after my 'land line' telephone crapped out on me and my wife took the only cell phone to work so I had to report the outage online. Then I was told by Verizon (online) that the earliest the repairman could come out to the house was Tuesday, September 4th. But he came by yesterday morning (catching me by surprise) and pointed out that the problem was my telephone which I've had for the last 30 years so I didn't feel as bad. Anyway, the wife and I went to Best Buy for a new one with all the 'bells and whistles' as we were long overdue to enter the 21st century.

I'm still playing around with the RadioStationManager but I'll keep you posted. From what I could decipher after viewing the readme file, it appears to be set up to organize events but can you also use it for loading music (individual songs) along with events?

;)

Sounds like you had one of my kind of days.

Unfortunately, the manager isn't set up to move music into the folder. Basically, that's just a cut and paste (or right click and move to) or however you want to get it in the folder for the station. Just keep it outside of the Events folder or it will never play unless you set up an event entry for it.
