View Full Version : [TEC] Poll - Do we need a SETKEYS for SH4?

I'm contemplating writing an application very similar to Setkeys, but for the newer SH4 version of the commands.cfg file.

My question is, do we really need one or are the current procedures (manual editing, using Setkeys and merging changed keys with commands.cfg, etc) sufficient?

I, for one, would certainly appeciate it - or a tutorial on how to change keys in the command.cfg file. I play on a laptop which has no separate number-pad and, so, no "+" & "-"

I am in the same boat [no pun intended]. Like to convert firing torpedoes on my desktop with SH4 from [ENTER] key to [CTRL]-[ENTER] keys and leave the rest of the key layout alone.

On my laptop, I run SH3 w/GWX mod and would like to do the same thing converting the fire torpedeo to the [CTRL]-[ENTER] keys.

One too many times I have hit the [ENTER] on the num pad on a standard keyboard when I meant to hit the [+] key to increase time instead. On my laptop I plug in a standard external keyboard when playing SH3 and have made the same dumb mistake on ocassion.

Just to change the torpedo fire key, see here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119863&highlight=ctrl+enter
make sure to read all the way to the bottom

Hmmm, check with Potoroo, I *think* he is looking at adding this feature to SH4 Skipper, but I could be wrong. I'm sure he, or someone anyway, mentioned to me that they were considering writing an SH4 version. If they don't come forward, go for it (hopefully you've found that copy of VB6 :rotfl: )!

EDIT: Just found an early alpha screenshot of SH4 Skipper. The option down the bottom is "Keyboard settings", so yeah, check with Potoroo. SH4 Skipper is written in Delphi 6.

Thanks for the headsup, Sir Scones. I sure wouldn't want to duplicate anything. No sense :damn: to reinvent the wheel.
