View Full Version : Running GWX and have a BLACK SKY at day

I'm running GWX. I just changed from 8 km to 16 km, light harbor traffic, and started a new career, but the sky is completely black during the day and night (although I do see stars at night, but no clouds during the day).

I know the old adage about red sky in morning, sailors take warning/red sky at night, sailors delight, but this post-apolacyptic black sky is freaky.

Any idea how to fix?

Any idea how to fix? Are you using SH3Commander? Did you roll back before installing the mod? This is the usual cause and fix.

Danlisa ( I think ) found the source of this problem and found a fix awhile ago. I'm sure he'll help you out when he gets a chance

The reason of your error is that you either enabled a mod while at sea or you did not rollback SH3Cmdr before enabling a mod. If you're using the 8Km range you need to use these files http://files.filefront.com/8Km+GWX+Envrar/;6745242;;/fileinfo.html http://files.filefront.com/GWX+8km+scenerar/;6690950;;/fileinfo.html. Remember that to use it you MUST
1. Be at Port and NOT in the sea
2. Rollback SH3Cmdr

Exactly as Melnibonian says.

I remember that a few days ago you posted a long list of mods that you were going to enable on top of GWX... many which were already included in GWX.

I also responded with a warning that some of those mods would/could cause any number of conflicts (too many error possibilities to list.)

Prior to enabling new mods it is a good idea to refer to the GWX manual first. GWX modifies well over 2000 files. Enabling other mods on top... if you are not very familiar with file modifications... is done at your own risk.

If you are unable to resolve your problems by disabling the additional mods... you will need to completely uninstall and then reinstall SH3.

Good luck mate.

Definitely a mix up between 8k & 16k atmosphere - mismatch between the scene.dat file & envskycolor files ... Hey ... I had to add my 2 cents worth guys!:yep:

D'oh, the rollback! Thanks, all. It just doesn't feel like I'm using a mod when I'm changing some settings on the JSGME.

Kpt. Lehmann -- fantastic job with GWX. I did read the entire manual and am very, very impressed with the depth that you've added to SHIII (in addition to what I'd already seen running a few patrols with GWX). I haven't added any mods except for the handful I activated through JSGME. Those covered most of what I wanted to add, except for a handul of others which I don't know how compatible they are with GWX.

BROJD as a rule of thumb you can use almost any "graphical" mod in GWX without any problem. Mods that affect core GWX files can actually break your game.

As long as the graphic mods in question do not change .dat files and are textures only... you should be safe.

You're correct Kpt. By "graphical mods" I mean Sub or ship skins. Thanks for the clarification
