Just finished the first stage of the survivors mod.
basicly changes the boxes that float around when a ship sinks into the men from the ships.
still needs some tweaking if any is possible
no screens yet but to get an idea check out the old thread.

Just downloaded and installed. In the med, bang.... black swan and a cunard passenger liner. First one I've ever seen... got within a thousand yards and hit her with four torps. She slowed and just sank straight down. Got plenty of survivors most looked fine. A few seemed to float a little too high, one guy was even face down in the water and one guy bobbed like a cork. Eventually they all sank like the boxes do. I thought it added something needed.:up:

Is there a way to attach a sound file to them?
perhaps pleas for help, or something like that?

hey guys. yes they do sit too high in the water at the moment but im looking into it.
the face down one is meant to be a dead man in the water but i may need to change this slightly to get the desired effect.
i will also spin some of the around as they all tend to face the same way.
about them sinking, i do not know how possible it would be to make them stick around longer but im gunna have a go with minitweaker and see what happens.
they do have life jackets already as the original model had them.
finally i will try to add some variance to uniforms and make some of them wear helmets and that so keep watching"!

Other than the guys alittle too high I didn't think anything was wrong with it. :p

I installed it with JSGME and it worked like a charm. Great job, and the expression you added to the figure's face was an...interesting touch. I noticed that there always seem to be more survivors if the sinking ship has a major fire on board and a ruptured fuel bunker. As you mentioned, making them stick around for longer and having different uniforms would be excellent.

Survivors are swimm a bit too high. Maybe you can take model for
survivors from exploded ships-you know-when crew is floating into
open air after explosion?;)

Also, can you release a tweak file with the debris (if there is one) so that we can adjust its properties ourselves, using minitweaker? As long as you have time, of course.

thanks for all your kind words.
my aim is to first increase the quality of the skin, then add different uniforms and hats to different people.
i will also attempt to lower them more into the water, i have an easyer wayto do this than hex.
about attatching sound, i know it can be done, but i will need some help on this. if diving duck or someone is around then help would be much appreciated. i might pm someone later and ask if mebey they could do it for me ;)
also a tweak file would be good but there isnt one already and i dont know how how to create one

Nice mod ! Thanks thefretmaster :up: .... Great to see them in the water instead of the standard boxes ...... I found myself , however, hovering over where they was after they " sunk " looking for a shark fin but none appeared :lol:
After one sinking I got the guys holding boxes , a couple face down , and one guy facing in the opposite direction ... but .. he was standing on his head on the water .... just thought I would pass that along to you ... if I see it again I will grab a screen shot of it ........... thanks for a great mod .. appreiciate it

hey, we posted at the same time so i didnt see your comment. the only reason i can see for this is, that like the boxes the crew spin, every now and again something will happen that will cause it to spin upsidedown as it surfaces. i dont know if this is hardcoded or in the hex, ill look into it

I know nothing of making a mod or how you guys do it but since you know where to look and change different things maybe you can take a look at the saliors on destoryers , or even later on in the war the crews on merchants that have manned gun batteries ... and use the ' code ' from that ? don't know ........ anyways ... its great right now .. thanks for your hard work .....

The skin for the weapon crew is MAN_DCR.tga in the Weapon_Crew.dat file. It is very easy to extract the tga with SH3 Unpacker and change the uniforms but the only problem is that there is no provision for multiple skins. Because of this, all countries and ships must have identical-looking figures manning the weapons.
Thanks for all your work, thefretmaster. This is a long-awaited mod that adds a lot of immersion to the game. Looking forward to next releases.:rock:
