Hi guys, I had just finished redoing my hardrives when I discovered that
my SHIII disc is uhm! Pooched.
I am not able to get my game to boot up at the moment.
so my projects are on hold for a shortwhile as their is no
way for me to test currently.
Can someone please send to my email ( martin.picfix@gmail.com )
or upload the following file as I believe its the problem and it may
prevent me having to buy a new disc.
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\binkw32.dll
any assistance would be appreciated.

How far do you get before the game stops loading?:hmm: or are we talking about the install process?
If you've just reformatted your HDD's could you possibly not have the correct codecs to play the opening movies. The game will faulter & not load if this is the case. Try deleting the intro movies.

Back to this for a second
when I am loading vanilla the game collapses ninety percent of the
way into game intialization load.
when I tried the first two times to load patched and GWX103'd it
collapsed around forty percent of the way up the loading bar.
( Repair install seemingly gets stuck at binkw32 but finishes)

well thanks for trying Ref.
it didnt work.
game still collapses ninety eight percent loading bar on vanilla.
oh well at least all that time loading and patching sub command wont be wasted.

I think i have a program wich can retrive the data from the bad disc (dvd or cd), if the disc is not badly damaged. I don`t know if thise will help and i don`t remebmer the name of the program, but i think its on my hard disc somewere. I will take a look and report to you if i found it ;)

Ok so just before I try the Disc rescue program lets finish pursuing the
other stuff and sew it up.
first off thanks danlisa for your attention on this issue.
the error message that shows is
AppName: sh3.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: sound.act
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000552e

Firstly, your copy of SH3 is not patched to 1.4b.
I'll get back to you about the sound.act error, I'm pretty sure the answer is here in SS.

When I first had the problem I was patched and Gwx'd up to 1.03 over 1.4b
then after two tries did with 1.4b only then with vanilla. a little backwards
but it ended up leading to my conclusion that its the disc.

A quick search of SS indicates that your sound card or drivers are having problems with the ogg files in SH3. Try updating the sound drivers or reducing the hardware acceleration in DXDIAG.

Well this issue will apparently only be resolved by a new soundcard and
a new disc. I would like to take the time to mournfully lament the passing
of my first hardworn copy of SHIII
What a ride.
