1280x720 almost works!
I changed this line in main.cfg under my documents\sh4\data\cfg:
Resolution=1024,768,75,22
to this:
Resolution=1280,720,60,22
It actually doesn't crash now like it did in 1.2, and the screen resolution is really 1280x720! Problem is, it's just packing a 1024x768 image on there so I lose the bottom 48 pixels.
Does anyone know a way to move the entire command bar up by 48 pixels??? Help!
lower wide resolutions are bugged, I cant go any lower than 1440x900 without geting the same problem you mention.
btw, does anyone know what means the "22" at the end of the line??

Have you made any progress on this at all? Such as, a discovery that if you change a certain line that part of the menu bar can be moved up?

No really, this is really bugging me and I hope some modders have noticed a solution to this while file-diving. If someone can point me in the right direction, I'll happily do the legwork to make a 1280x720 (720p) mod and maybe even an "any resolution" mod. I just need to figure out how to move things around on screen.

[Totally, completely and irreversably off topic, sorry]

Seriously, I don't have a clue what the 22 means, but I did discover something strange. I'm playing the game at 1280x960 and that same line in my main.cfg still says Resolution=1024,768,60,22 I don't know what that suggests, except that maybe there is somewhere else we should be looking.Maybe the 22 has something to do with the monitors dot pitch? Probably not since we both have 22s and I don't think you're using a 17 inch CRT at that resolution.
Edit : If you search through the menu_1024_768.ini file in blah,blah,blah...\Data\Menu you'll find the definitions for all the stuff that shows up on your screen at various times. If you search for hud.dds or hud.tga you'll find all the entries that use graphics from the hud texture. Those will not be exclusively all the items that make up the hud, but it will give you an idea what section all those things are in. Warning, Will Robinson, it's not a small number of items!
