I sometimes get the "Eye Bug", anyone else get this?. And what do you think causes this. I have seen that some textures have separate eyes and some have the eyes included. Or could it be a Alpha channel problem?

I thought that the dev's fixed this for 1.3

I get this off & on (with on not being much improvement). I always thought
it was due to my low ATI X600 pro graphics card which is sorely outdated
for this game. Most everything else works OK so I just live with it till I am
read to upgrade my card (DX10 is out cause I won't get Vista). Prices are
still dropping on the good cards so the longer I wait, the better card I can
afford....

I see this randomly with my 8800 GTS, too.
shewww, glad im not alone on this matter.

Yes, I get the zombie crew affect as well. Not very often. I just ignore them in hopes they do not eat my liver:roll:

I too have this. It's some kind of mix of TC and watch settings. Those eyes stay normal if I leave battle stations on and go into TC. Also, easiest way to make this go away is just to move crew around in crew management screen

Ok so its common. I am running VISTA with a 8800GTX here, so its for sure not a gra card prob, as some of you stated having ATI's. Will have a look at those textures, but I fear it might be deeper then that.

I had a quick look at them textures. It seems that some have eyes and some not. What I suspect is that the if the texture is used with no eyes it will draw/use the texture "part" that has eyes, and sometimes that glitches. I know that all the face textures are used randomly as well as parts from one is mixed with another to get as big a variety as possible. So its not in the textures but must be deeper down, in some dat or .cfg etc
Texture without eyes (I think this is what we get when a eye dont load properly from another texture)

I think maybe a hint from one of the Dev's would be of great help here.
The one file that seems to controll this is "MARINE.dat"

@Bando...yep i like it pretty much my self ;)

Honestly, while im not sure, i think it's some combination of PPF, enviormental effects, and Time comperssion that sets off the zombification. ( IE, some funky rendering error )

I believe you are correct on this. It seems to have an effect on the night of the living dead crew.

Could well be...But why I really noticed this, was when loading a single mission for doing some testing for something else. I just went to 3D view (Free Cam) no TC or nothing, and there it was. Like many ppl said it seems to be pretty random.
On second thought, i think what happens is that the eye (3D+texture) simply don't load. If you look in my first post you see that its not a flat texture without eyes, those are holes and what we see as "beige/skin" color is the inside of the head.

Funny that you mention it. Sometimes I actually do have normal looking eyes on my crew but the animation is kind of "jammed". You can tell it when you click the CE and he's not looking at you but a little bit to right
Related into this some have textures and some have not..?

What is rally creepy is when they do have eyes in the sockets the look at you like mutiny is afoot. Scary buggers they are.:o
Yep its a random occurence on my rig too. Running Vista Ultimate 64 with 8Gig of RAM and SLI'ed 8800GTX's.
I have tried it with all settings in the Nvidia CP such as Gamma Correct AA, Transparency AA, SLI, Aniso, Alternate Frame Rendering 1&2, and Split Frame Rendering; and still randomnly appears.
Definitely seems to be in the games code somewhere a (eye)ball is dropped!
edit: Game definitely prefers AFR #1

2G RAM
OT: Jhereg hows 8 gigs working out for you? I have a copy of 64 here just waiting for me to buy more RAM.
Have that as well, never seen it top side, it's always usualy the Helmsman in command room, it happens frequently. Also every now an then while switching to bridge view, animaton for Deck watch,{ guy standing beside you} stop workin. He stands there with his arms staight out at hip level and he moves from side to side.:arrgh!:

Im glad to see its not just me w/ the crew without eyes.
I thought I had been transfered from the "USS Tambor" to the "Event Horizon"
I get this as well with a 7800 OC BFG. I think the extended arm bug is TC related.

I notice the eyes will appear going from periscope depth to surface though .

Agreed. My OOD is always WATCHING me with his evil eye. He's really creepy (or is he up to something?).

The 8 Gigs works great especially for Supreme Commander, I use Mad Boris's tool to add the "Large Address Aware" header to the exe's to ensure they can use as much RAM as possible.
Needed the fix for SupCom, and have applied it to STALKER, SH3 (GWX), and SH4 (TM 1.5), it just ensures these apps don't run outta address space. That would happen to me on Vista Ultimate 32.....pooof crash outta nowhere.
Still as all our games are 32 bit they can only access a max of 4Gig.
