Hey!
I've been looking through some .cfg files and one of the files called orders.tga and found some interesting stuff that makes me think that there should be a possibility to call in airstrikes, report weather and to listen to allied radio frequenzies! Allthough they are probably unfinished codes by the programers I'd still like to share what I found, hoping that someone here can explain it to me!

In the Commands_en.cfg there's a line that says:
;[Cmd453]
;Name=Send_weather_report

In SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\en_menu.txt you can find this:
;Radio operator
2900=Report
2901=Request
2902=Radar
2903=Radio
2904=Gramophone
2905=Report contacts
2906=Send contact report
2907=Send weather report
2908=Send patrol report
2909=Orders
2910=Air reconnaissance
2911=Air strike
2912=Supply
2913=Escort to base
2914=One sweep
2915=Continuous sweep
2916=Turn off
2917=Scan enemy frequencies
2918=Scan friendly frequencies

SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\Gui\Layout\orders2.tga
This file contain some radiomessage icons that I haven't seen ingame!

If anyone has some explainations to these things, please let me know!!

//Daniel

By the way, great forum, I'm glad I finally joined it!

Yeah, it would have been nice to be able to call for resupply and air reconnaissance! And how about escort back to base!
To bad that they didn't put it into a patch, especially since it seems like half of the work is already done....icons, some coding and stuff....
Thx for the reply!

2909=Orders
2913=Escort to base

These two even made it in the manual.

cheers

Look also at the audio files, many sounds are present but not included in the game, like "We can`t stop flooding" "We all going to dye" and etc...

they should shoot the Ubisoft team :stare:
lets hope some of the modders here can add the options ;)

Not the team...one should shoot the management! they declared the timeline and that theres no room left for finishing the game. i think the dev-team did great work but they were cut in their creative process as the need for money and time increased the pressure.

the time management and not to plan a dynamic campaign (which integration caused the delay) was a catastrophe. and the management is responsable for that. not the dev-team. shame on the men who packed their pockets full of gold and left an unfinished game, which only got that playable through the intensive work of the community!

money is the road to nothing and money is hell.

listing in to ememy radio transmission would have really increased the immersion factor with the use of the radio operator as a usable station ...now he,s just eye candy:cry: except for the gramma phone

managers are definately the issue, the developers are trying to sit still and produce a great game, but managers are lighting a fire under their asses every time the devs get comfortable and start making progress.

had SH3 been developed with all of the options planned there would have never been any need for another subsim.

I truly believe that if given another year of production you would have seen every compartment of the u-boat along with all of the sound files and orders options available to the player.

I HATE how game producers half ass a product just because a manager is looking at the bottom line.

that is one reason i have so much respect for the GWX crew, they work on something in pretty much absolute secrecy until they are almost ready to release it.

gaming companies on the other hand make all these announcments and come out with an unrealistic release date and turn out crap.

I would gladly wait 3 or 4 years for an AWESOME subsim i knew was coming rather than be surprised by a total piece of crap.

im not implying that SH3 is a piece, because it is a great game, but i feel like the content they scrapped at the last minute would have made the game UNBELIEVABLE!!!

unfortunately without the SDK - these files are just occupying space and will continue to be unused
