Hi!
I play ssh3 with 0% realism mod. Still it's quite odd that I haven't got any promotions. I've downloaded sh3 commander mod and via that promoted my crew members etc. At the moment i've sunk more than 300,000 tonns of allied shipping. Still no promotion in forseeable future..
What's the prob.?

This isn't real life, it's a game with some limitations to how it is played. Enjoy it for what it is.

As a new member i'm all interested in downloading new verisions. For example hood-class BB, american bb-classes etc. The game manual didn't, for my point of view provide enough material, nor does the verision i'm having maintain my interest. So, if you were kind to tell me which versions to download and where to extract/put them. I'm not very good with these kinds of things or computers in general..

Promotions in SH3 are linked with Renown and not tonnage. The renown you collect is a function of the realism settings you're using (i.e. if you play at 50% realism you will collect the 50% of the possible renown you can etc). Therefore by playing 0% realism you collect no renown. Hence no promotions as well ;)

Can you give somekind of link to download proper additional mod to sh3?
For example now the british warships are quite rare consisting of 3xbb-class, 2xcarriers.etc. The funniest i mention the americans use clemson dd's! I guess i've bought the original game:down:
The addons' installation instructions would also be nice:yep:

There are loads of little mods for SH3, but you're better off by getting one of the SuperMods (GWX, NYGM etc). This link should help you http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=96026

In GWX you'll find probably the widest variety of ships (including the Clemson class) :yep:
In the next GWX release there will be yet more classes to choose from :arrgh!:

I'm on my 25 patrol (December 1942) and for about ten or maybe more missions I'm still kapitanleutenant:damn: . What should I do to earn next rank. It tempts me to mode SH3 cfg. file ;).

You need all the bin files as well. Put everything in a single folder and run the executable. After that just follow the instructions on your screen. Also it would be good if you read the manual before installation. There are very detailed instructions in there. :yep: :up:

Thank you for the tip, I'll try my best. But one more question still remains. Is it also possible to mode crew ranks. In thread called my "u-boat " I saw crew member (deck officer) with korvetenleutnant insignia on his coat. Well, me and my crew passed through a hell lots of times during those 24 patrols, (in current 25 patrol we've been dephcharged for 3,5 hours by 3 DDs and 2 frigates on 240 m.b.s.l :shifty: - biscaya region ) so it would be a pure egoism if I fergot about them:yep: .

:hmm: You might want to elaborate a bit here. Having both developed SH3Cmdr and been a GWX dev (until retiring recently), I can assure you that they are quite compatible with each other, at least when used as per instructions. ;)

Sorry captain, I ment nothing wrong. You and dev team did a great job. I really love it, and I'm eager to see more in 1.04 patch :rock: . I've been playing SH 3 for 1,5 year. After I installed SH3 commander it was more interesting and fun - no doubt. ...., but after I downloaded patch 1.03 (then put into vanilla SH3) and than - maybe that's the huk, put GWX skin pack to SH 3 commander folder, some strange things happened. First I had lost all SH3 sunk ships names in capt. log. Then I realized that additionally I lost those lovely ingame radio messages and (not all but many) informations about contacts (convoys, sigle marchants etc.). So, after I had made some upgrades to my crew (ranks and crew skills) - using SH 3 commander of course - I stopped to use it. I rolled it back as instructed. Now, for example, I cant give my crew any of skills after completed patrol, although still remains possibility to give them ranks (stock SH 3 ranks reserved to each group) and medals - limited amount due to my patrol achievments :hmm: . (Sorry for english gramma, etc).

One thing about the commander verision i don't understand. It does allow me to upgrade my crew, but nominations and promotions for me as a cap do not exist? ...or am have i missed something?:huh:

1. Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2. Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3. Reinstall SH3
4. If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5. OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6.Download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

No, you're not missing anything. It simply wouldn't be right to allow the Captain to tinker with his own rank. ;)
