The "Send contact" report button in my captain's log is no longer working, it is probably my fault. I click the button, but get no mention of any contact report sent from me in my log like I still do for my general status reports. I believe it’s called a "ROH report" or something, but I can’t remember as I haven’t seen one since 1.2. Yes now that I think about it I think it has been like this ever since I installed 1.3. That said I’m not sure if it was the patch or one of my many mods that did it. Did they (Ubi) deactivate that in the patch, or have I somehow managed to do it with one of the mods I have installed? Some of them do add changes to the menus so I suspect there is a typo or something in there. If anyone knows which file(s) I need to look at to correct this please share.

I too also have this issue every now and then. I'm no where near as heavily modded as you. If I click the button to send the report, it usually sends. If I sit there and keep clicking it will not continue to send the same report. I do not know what keeps it from sending. All I can say is patrol a few hours and see if a report will send.

I'm afraid patrolling a few hours more won't increase the chances of a rare occurrence as I've played a lot and I've tried sending these reports a lot. The button gets highlighted on mouseover, but there just doesn't appear to be any functions connected to it. Oh and just so there is no misunderstanding, I am on the surface and the contact is within visible range. Anyone know if we get "renown" points for sending them? Because if not, then I'm not really missing out much. However if we are, and worse there is a penalty for being lazy on the contact reports, then...:damn:

it's seldom working, yes :shifty:
First thing though, is that the contact report will only work with convoy sightnings, not single ships. It may work with very little convoy like two merchant ships because they're sometimes considered as such by the game.

I think it is 3+ ships for it to work.

:hmm: That is interesting and of course logical, what interest would command have of a lone ship yes. That's unless it was a really special one... That said I know I've tried sending with convoys. Especially a big one full of warships I met on my way back to base yesterday. I had no torpedoes left to slow them down so telling command felt important at that moment, and even though I've stopped trying these days, I did surface to try and send one.

Realistically I guess one had to track them a bit to get an accurate heading, but I know from back when this was working that this game doesn't seem to care how long I've actually observed them.

As soon as I'm finished with my current mission I shall go through my mod folder and take a closer look at those that deal with menus and gui. I'm hoping it is something simple, but realize that it's possibly a rare occurrence so simple is rather relative.

experienced the same things here... It just worked sometimes, and sometimes not. Maybe there's a logical reason behind this but can't figure it out should it be the case... :dead:

Three ships which you currently have active visual contact with.

:hmm: I'm not sure how, but I got it working. I just basically redid my mod installations and this time it worked on the first try. I even got orders in return to sink a specific tanker, which was great. Thanks to all who tried to help. I have to presume I must have done a typing error the first time. I can't think of anything else.

It would be nice to know if this is an incentive feature? We get shot @ staying on surface,to send contact report, then have to sink escorts,to do the rest of convoy. Kinda risky, say what!

to send a contact report and your crew must have at least 2 escorts, if they have them, and 3 of the main ships in the convoy or task force in sight to send a contact report. Then you will get a message back telling you your orders after a few minutes where you should be headint to pariscope depth incase of message intercept where planes and DD's might come looking for you.

You can only send 1 message per contact unless it is hours later after tracking them and reloading torpedo's.
